  • Publication number: 20240048911
Abstract: An electro-acoustic transducer includes a diaphragm and an electro-magnetic motor for driving motion of the diaphragm. The electro-magnetic motor includes a magnetic circuit that includes a first Rare earth-Iron-Boron (REFeB) magnet. The REFeB magnet includes a major phase and a grain boundary rich rare earth phase. A heavy rare earth element (HREE) is diffused into the first REFeB magnet through the grain boundary rich rare earth phase.

  • Publication number: 20220192335
Abstract: A case for a portable electronic device includes a housing, a lid, and a hinge rotatably coupling the lid to the housing such that the lid is operable between an open position and a closed position. The hinge includes a first multipole magnet coupled to the lid such that the first multipole magnet rotates with the lid. A second multipole magnet is coupled to the housing and is arranged coaxially with the first multipole magnet and such that the first multipole magnet and the lid rotate relative to the second multipole magnet. The lid is unstable between the open and closed positions, such that, between the open position and the closed position, the lid is biased toward either the open position or the closed position depending on an angle of orientation of the lid relative to the housing.

  • Publication number: 20210337298
Abstract: A wearable audio device that includes an electro-acoustic transducer for creating audio output and a magnetometer system comprising a magnetic field sensor with an output, a temperature sensor that is configured to determine an internal device temperature, a processor, and memory. The magnetometer system is configured to derive from the magnetic field sensor output a directional heading of the Earth's magnetic field. The magnetometer system is further configured to compensate the magnetic field sensor output, wherein the compensation is temperature dependent. The memory is configured to store temperature-dependent compensation information. • Patent number: 11076214
Abstract: A wearable audio device with a magnetic field sensor that is constructed and arranged to sense the Earth's magnetic field. A magnet in the earphone, for example the magnet of the electro-acoustic transducer, produces a first magnetic field having a first magnetic field strength. A docking or parking magnet in the earphone produces a second magnetic field that is configured to reduce an influence of the first magnetic field on the magnetic field sensor.

  • Patent number: 11067644
Abstract: A wearable audio device with an electro-acoustic transducer that is configured to create audio output. The transducer has a transducer magnet that produces a transducer magnetic field having a magnetic field strength, and a magnetic structure such as a cup that guides the transducer magnetic field. The transducer magnet is on the inside of the magnetic structure. There is a magnetic field sensor outside of the magnetic structure; the magnetic field sensor is constructed and arranged to sense the Earth's magnetic field. A nulling magnet is coupled to or proximate the outside of the magnetic structure and is constructed and arranged to produce a nulling magnetic field that reduces the strength of the transducer magnetic field at the magnetic field sensor.
