  • Publication number: 20020065525
Abstract: A control mechanism for a resectioning device, comprises a first actuator coupled to a flexible drive shaft for actuating a first mechanism when operated in a first direction and for actuating, when operated in a second direction, a second mechanism and a first lockout mechanism coupled to the first actuator for preventing actuation of the first actuator in the second direction before a predetermined amount of actuation in the first direction has been completed. Furthermore, mechanisms are provided to control the release during operation in a second direction of torsional energy stored in a flexible drive shaft during operation in a first direction.

  • Patent number: 5522441
Abstract: A cutterhead, particularly for wood lathe tooling includes one or more sleeves each of which has an inner hydraulically operated circumferential gripper for securement to a rotatable arbor, and an outer, independently hydraulically operated circumferential gripper for securement to a cylinder. The outer peripheral surface of the cylinder is provided with longitudinal dovetail ribs. Knife carriers and space-filling limiters slide axially onto these ribs and are locked in place by set screws. Each carrier has a slot for radially receiving a knife to be gripped between a wedge and a corrugated keeper. The keeper and carrier slot are keyed together to provide for radial adjustment of the knife. A threaded pin restrains slot spreading and radially retains the wedge and keeper. Wedge action prevents radial throwing of elements should someone neglect to secure the carriers or limiters, or neglect to elevate the wedges.

  • Patent number: 5307718
Abstract: An apparatus and process are disclosed for removal of a stripe of soft reflective material of uniform width from the surface of a mirror by using a blade having a large included angle to inhibit curling of the blade during the cutting operation which could result in damage to the glass substrate of the mirror. The cutting blade is maintained at a low blade angle with respect to the mirror surface to produce minimal chipping along the cut edge and to minimize the force exerted on the coating normal to the glass surface which could deform the flat mirror. The mirror is mounted in a cutting mechanism containing a movable carriage on which the blade is mounted to provide very accurate straightness of the travel of the blade along the mirror.

  • Patent number: 4961575
Abstract: Apparatus for playing hide and seek comprising a plurality of portable units adapted for being carried by a corresponding number of individuals in hiding, for generating respective output signals each contributing to an output signal field in the vicinity of the individuals in hiding, and a further portable unit adapted for being carried by a further individual seeking to locate the individuals in hiding, the further portable unit including circuitry for measuring field strength of the output signal field and in response generating a further signal representative of relative proximity to respective ones of the individuals in hiding, whereby generation of the further signal assists the further individual in locating the individuals in hiding. The portable hider units also include a selective cloaking feature.

  • Patent number: 4348281
Abstract: A skimmer assembly for use in swimming pools in which a skimmer housing is provided with a skimming inlet and a drain inlet for receiving water from a pool. An outlet is also provided for connection with a vacuum source for discharging water from the housing. A floating weir is disposed in the housing for regulating the amount of water entering the housing from the skimming inlet and a filter basket is disposed in the housing with its open end communicating with the skimming inlet and a wall portion communicating with the drain inlet. An adaptor member and a cover plate cooperate with said basket for selectively controlling the flow of water from said skimming inlet to said outlet. The basket is adapted to attain a plurality of positions in the housing for regulating the flow through the drain inlet to the housing, and a sealing assembly is provided on the weir and the basket for sealing off flow through the skimmer inlet when the level of water in the pool falls below a predetermined value.
