  • Patent number: 11198415
Abstract: Example on-demand driver (ODD) systems and methods are described herein. An example method includes generating, with an ODD system, a softkey for a vehicle associated with an agreement between a driver-in-need (DIN) and an ODD, monitoring, with the ODD system, a location of an ODD device carried by the ODD, and transmitting, with the ODD system, the softkey to the ODD device when the ODD device is detected as being within a proximity of the vehicle. In the example method, the softkey is used to unlock the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20190210560
Abstract: Data including vehicle occupant authentication information is received. A request to control a vehicle component is received. A role for the vehicle occupant is identified. A determination is made whether the identified role includes a permission to control the vehicle component. The requested control of the vehicle component is performed if the identified role includes the permission to control the vehicle component.

  • Publication number: 20130009765
Abstract: Various embodiments relate to determining a range limit for a vehicle based on the vehicle's energy source status. An energy status of a vehicle and a location of an energizing station for the vehicle may be received at a computer. The computer may be operable to communicate with one or more vehicle systems. A travel distance value from a current location of the vehicle to the location of the energizing station may be calculated. Additionally, a range limit value for the vehicle based on the energy source status and the travel distance value may be calculated. Based on the range limit value, one or more range values of the vehicle with respect to returning to the energizing station may be determined.

  • Patent number: 4056747
Abstract: A speed sensor comprises a pick-up device mounted on the aluminum casing of a vehicle transmission, adjacent an existing ferromagnetic gear inside the transmission casing, which gear rotates in unison with the driven wheels of the vehicle. The pick-up device comprises a permanent magnet and a toroidal ferromagnetic core on which an inductive coil is wound. The permanent magnet and toroidal core are cooperatively arranged with respect to the ferromagnetic gear such that a magnetic circuit is created from the permanent magnet through the toroidal core, through the transmission casing, and through the ferromagnetic transmission gear back through the transmission casing to the permanent magnet. As the gear rotates, the reluctance of the magnetic circuit is varied at a rate representative of the speed of the gear and hence the speed of the vehicle. The speed information is provided across the inductive coil.

  • Patent number: 3962677
Abstract: Both visible and audible warning signals are provided for the purpose of promoting safety belt usage by the occupants of a vehicle. The warning signals are given for a limited time period subsequent to actuation of the usual ignition switch from the "off" position to either "start" or "run" position. If the driver fastens his safety belt prior to the expiration of the aforesaid time period, the audible alarm is terminated. Accuracy in the timing function is attained via an electronic control circuit.
