Abstract: Systems and methods for converting live weather data to a weather index for offsetting weather risk. Weather data source systems generate one or more weather data streams that include weather forecast model and observations data. A data distribution system receives a weather index request, identifies at least one instrument and at least one location associated with the request. Weather risk indication data is extracted among the weather data streams associated with the identified location based on predefined parameters associated with the identified instrument. The extracted data is converted into a set of weather index values corresponding to the location, based on a predetermined algorithm associated with the identified instrument. A weather index presentation package is generated that includes the set of weather index values for distribution to at least one user device. The weather index presentation package being distributed is updated concurrent with changes to weather risk indication data.

Abstract: A weight-displacing knee pad is disclosed that includes a knee body having an inner member substantially enclosed an outer cushion member. The outer cushion member includes an exterior surface defining a knee-receiving cavity and a shin-receiving surface and at least a portion of the inner member includes a shin-support body disposed beneath the shin-receiving surface. At least a portion of the shin-support body has a triangular cross-section with an apex extending upwardly toward the shin-receiving surface. The inner member is made of a different material than the outer cushion member. The weight-displacing knee pad also includes a forward knee-movement barrier with a forward knee-barrier support body defined by at least a portion of the inner member.

Abstract: A substituted thiourea having the general formula characterized in that each of R1 and R2 independently comprises an alkyl, alkaryl or aryl group or a substituted derivative thereof, and contains at least one fluorine atom, and in that each of R3 and R4 is selected from the group which consists of H, alkyl, alkaryl and aryl and substituted derivatives thereof, including fluorine-containing derivatives. A method for producing the substituted thiourea is disclosed, and a method for extracting a noble metal such as gold from a matrix by treating the matrix with the substituted thiourea is also disclosed.

Abstract: A support structure for an operational telecommunications network deploys a set of individual technologies and provides a set of services to customers. The support structure is divided into a set of domains each of which provides a particular management function for the network. These domains include a domain for managing customer handling functions, a domain for managing the network, a domain for managing the individual technologies deployed in the network, a domain for managing instances of the individual services provided by the network, a domain for managing billing operations, a domain for managing the services provided by the network when grouped together to form a portfolio, and a domain for managing jobs performed by the human workforce for the network. Each domain has its own set of databases and systems for performing the required management operations and also interfaces to some of the other domains. Each domain is implemented by one or more tightly integrated computers.
