  • Patent number: 6994382
Abstract: A retaining feature is provided for connecting a plastic tube to a corrugated acoustic duct. The retaining feature accommodates variations in the undulations and thread pattern of the corrugated duct, while at the same time minimizing the materials, specialized equipment or tools, labor and cost of making a successful connection. The retaining feature includes at least one barb extending circumferentially around the exterior surface of the plastic tube. Each barb is sized and structured to engage an undulation of the corrugated duct.

  • Patent number: 6824119
Abstract: A throttle body for use in the air intake system of a motor vehicle comprising a throttle body defining a throttle bore. The throttle plate is rotatably mounted within the throttle bore, having an outside diameter smaller than an inside diameter of the throttle bore. A plurality of fins, located on the throttle plate, extend from the throttle plate in a direction generally perpendicular to a plane defined by said throttle plate. The fins are optimized in number, thickness, spacing, length, shape, and angle to reduce air-rush noise without impacting engine performance.

  • Patent number: 5797589
Abstract: A throttle body (12), for an air intake system of a vehicle, including a housing (14) formed of a thermoplastic material and including a pair of throttle shaft bearing pockets (24, 26) extending from a main bore (16) of the throttle body. The bearing pockets (24, 26) each include a generally cylindrical wall (34) of a diameter to allow for a press fit of throttle shaft support bearings (28, 30) therein. After insertion, a swaging process secures the bearings (28, 30) into the pockets (24, 26) by forming lips (40) around the bearings. The walls (34) may include axial grooves (36) to allow for a more controlled swaging operation.
