Abstract: A method for analyzing patents is disclosed. The method includes compiling a database with data indicative of a plurality of patents and performing factor analysis to establish at least one variable indicative of a characteristic of at least one of the plurality of patents. The method also includes performing cluster analysis to establish a plurality of groups of patents as a function of the at least one established variable. The method also includes performing discriminant analysis to establish at least one formula as a function of the established groups. The method further includes utilizing the formula to predict which one of the plurality of groups a first patent is associated with. The first patent not being included within the plurality of patents.
