  • Patent number: 7604648
Abstract: A direct vision dissecting port for providing safe entry into a body cavity, as well as being operative to serve as a standard port for use in laparoscopic, endoscopic or thoracic surgery. The device includes an elongated housing within which a endoscope may be positioned. The distal-most end of the device allows for viewing of tissue dissection or gripping by tissue spreaders and is operatively transitional between a closed configuration and an open, operative configuration. Transition of the tissue spreaders between the two configurations selectively cuts tissue by a spreading action in a layer-by-layer fashion while under the direct vision of the endoscope disposed therein. The port may further optionally assume an anchor configuration once positioned within the patient to enable the same to remain securely in position during the surgical procedure.

  • Publication number: 20070067179
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention are directed at providing an application program that allows a user to select, model, and visualize components of a framed artwork. In accordance with one embodiment, a method is provided that allows a user to create a digitized representation of a framed artwork. More specifically, the method includes providing a user interface that includes controls for obtaining component selections of the framed artwork. Then, from the user interface, a set of component selections are received. As the component selections are received, the method renders the framed artwork for display.

  • Publication number: 20070049963
Abstract: A direct vision port dissector for providing safe entry into a body cavity and placement of a standard laparoscopic port for use in laparoscopic surgery. The device comprises an elongate tubular housing within which a laparoscope is placed. Formed at the distal-most opening of the tubular housing is a dissector mechanism that may be selectively deployed and operative to spread tissue in a layer-by-layer fashion while under the direct vision of the laparoscope.

  • Patent number: 7056329
Abstract: A laparoscopic direct vision dissecting port for providing safe entry into a body cavity, as well as being operative to serve as a standard laparoscopic port for use in laparoscopic surgery. The device comprises an elongate laparoscopic port within which a laparoscope may be positioned. The distal-most end of the tip is transparent in nature and operatively transitional between a closed configuration and an open, operative configuration, the latter of which causing tissue to be selectively dissected in a layer-by-layer fashion while under the direct vision of the laparoscope disposed therein. The port may further optionally assume an anchor configuration once positioned within the patient to enable the same to remain securely in position during the laparoscopic surgical procedure.

  • Publication number: 20050119670
Abstract: A laparoscopic fascial closure device (10) for fashioning a secure closure about a laparoscopic puncture site. The device comprises an elongate cannula (12) having proximal (12a) and distal (12b) ends. A needle suture complex (22) is selectively deployed from the distal end (12b) of the device that is operative to deploy a suture across the puncture site from within the body and draw the free ends of the suture outwardly from the body via the laparoscopic port site. The device (10) is configured to be utilized through a ten millimeter or larger laparoscopic port, and is operative to position the suture at the puncture site such that the suture extends in a diametrically-opposed configuration at least 1.0 cm or greater across opposed sides of the puncture site.
