Abstract: A paper shredder includes a housing having an oblong entrance and an oblong exit for paper to be shredded, an electric motor, and a shredding mechanism driven by the electric motor and in a paper feeding path from the entrance to the exit for cutting paper entering the housing via the entrance into smaller paper pieces which exit via the exit. An exit device is attached to the exit for exit of the paper pieces. The exit device extends along the length of the exit for collecting the paper pieces, has an opening for exit of the paper pieces, and includes a moving mechanism for moving the paper pieces to the opening.

Abstract: A sheet holder for holding a sheet of paper and exposing an edge of the sheet, has a press for holding the paper sheet and exposing the edge, and a lever for operating the press. The lever is movable between a released position for placing of the edge of the paper sheet in the press and a holding position for operating the press. There is also an abutment for abutment by the edge of the paper sheet to position the edge relative to the press while the lever is in the released position. The abutment is associated with the lever for moving away from the edge of the paper sheet when the lever moves towards the holding position, thereby exposing the edge of the paper sheet.

The piercer has a cutting edge which extends across the left and right sides of the body. The shearing edge of each of the units bears laterally against the shearing edge of an adjacent unit. The two shearing edges together act as shears, cutting the paper sheet in a second direction, parallel to the feeding direction.

Abstract: A cutting apparatus for cutting sheets of paper, plastic, or the like, has a carriage for sliding along a rail, a cassette holder engageable with the carriage, and a cassette encasing a cutting blade and co-operable with the carriage, when held by the cassette holder, to expose a cutting edge of the cutting blade during engagement of the cassette holder with the carriage. The cassette, which may be separate from the carriage, has a rotary cutting blade and a cover covering the blade.
