  • Publication number: 20200338337
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a non-invasive intraoral neurostimulation device and method for treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) while improving adherence, effectiveness, and outcomes. The intraoral neurostimulation device includes a mouthpiece, at least one electrode pair having a reference electrode and a stimulating electrode supported by the mouthpiece, and a substrate positioned between a tongue of a user and the stimulating electrode. The intraoral neurostimulation device is configured to deliver non-invasive electrical neurostimulation to the motor neurons of at least one genioglossus muscle to induce a muscle contraction of the tongue, thereby eliminating the blockage and returning normal airflow to the user. In certain embodiments, the intraoral neurostimulation device is paired with a respiratory sensor to deliver stimulation synchronized with the respiratory rhythm of the user or deliver stimulation only during apneic episodes, reducing the total amount of stimulation time.

  • Publication number: 20170364849
Abstract: A software tool may analyze the constantly evolving and increasing velocity of enterprise risk, aggregates organizational risk, creates risk profiles at each level of the organization, and provides a central risk management hub that uses novel risk management algorithms to aggregate and provide risk management information to users. In order to quantitatively determine risk, calculations may be performed in a hierarchical manner. A risk category may include an inherent risk component and a quality of risk management component. Ratings for a given risk category may be derived from a sum of weighted rankings of each risk component thereof. Ratings for each risk component may be derived from its risk attributes.

  • Publication number: 20140270458
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for determining the number and type of blood cells in a blood sample. The blood sample is collected and held in a slide. In the slide, the blood sample is separated and channeled into at least two sampling chambers, one for red blood cells, another for white blood cells, and optionally yet another for platelets. The sampling chambers have wetting agents, lysing agents, staining agents, or the like therein to mix with the blood and facilitate cell count. The slide is placed in a portable slide analyzer where the sampling chambers are illuminated and images of the sampling chambers are taken. These images are converted into electronic form and sent by a communications module of the slide analyzer to a remote external location where the images are analyzed to determine the number and type of blood cells in the blood sample.

  • Patent number: 8784361
Abstract: In one exemplary aspect, the present disclosure is directed to an assembly having an irrigation hand piece that includes an irrigation needle extending from a distal end. The irrigation needle is also configured to release a first fluid. The assembly further has an aspiration hand piece that includes an aspiration needle extending from a distal end. The aspiration needle has an axis and is configured to aspirate a second fluid into the assembly. The assembly has a first configuration in which the irrigation hand piece and aspiration hand piece are coupled together in a manner that causes the released first fluid from the assembly to flow coaxially about the axis of the aspiration needle and a second configuration in which the irrigation hand piece and aspiration hand piece are uncoupled which causes the released first fluid to flow substantially non-coaxial with respect to the axis of the aspiration needle.
