  • Patent number: 9807841
Abstract: A circuit and method for controlling one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs) includes one or more LEDs connected to the emitter a transistor and controlling the brightness of the LEDs over a large range based on a voltage range at a base of the transistor controlled by an automatic adjusting mechanism.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 12, 2012
Date of Patent: October 31, 2017
    Assignee: Hubbell Incorporated
    Inventor: Stephen M. Liscinsky
  • Patent number: 8853963
Abstract: A switch circuit utilizes an LED for illumination. A diode is connected in parallel with the LED but in opposite orientation, with the LED anode connected to the diode cathode, and the LED cathode connected to the diode anode, to permit discharging of a power supply capacitor of a ballast of a lamp such as a compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulb. Undesirable flickering of the CFL are then avoided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 30, 2012
Date of Patent: October 7, 2014
    Assignee: Hubbell Incorporated
Inventors: Stephen M. Liscinsky, Gregg R. Schelmetic

  • Patent number: 7336457
Abstract: Disclosed is an end-of-life status alarm indication circuit and method for indicating the failure of the primary contacts of a ground fault circuit interruption (GFCI) device to open when a ground fault circuit is detected by the GFCI device. The GFCI device will protect against the situation where the primary contacts of a GFCI device become welded together and will not open when a ground fault circuit is detected by the device. The alarm indication may be either an audible or visual indication.
