  • Patent number: 8292070
Abstract: A package of sheet media and method of loading the package are presented in which a stack of sheet media is wrapped in a multi-layer strap, the multi-layer strap is operative to allow a user to load the package of sheet media into a media supply tray of an associated print engine, the multi-layer strap includes a third layer disposed between a first layer and a second layer, and the third layer is operative to allow the user to remove the multi-layer strap from the stack of sheet media while the stack of sheet media is positioned within the media supply tray.

  • Patent number: 7474428
Abstract: A method for completing a document job that includes delivering at least one print job to a printing device, bringing a tag containing information regarding the document job into close proximity to the printing device so that the device receives the information from the tag, and using the information received from the tag to complete the print job. The method also applies to document jobs sent to facsimile and multifunction devices.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: January 6, 2009
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
    Inventors: Stephen Morris-Jones, Martin Ball
  • Patent number: 7310162
Abstract: A method and apparatus for printing documents on a networked system. The method includes creating at least one print job associated with a user identification code, sending the at least one job to a print queue and separately conveying the user identification code to a printing device. This method could be accomplished either with a tag system or by direct data entry at the site of a printing device. The device then obtains and prints the at least one job associated with the user identification code from the print queue.

  • Publication number: 20050078330
Abstract: A method and apparatus for allowing access to at least one specialty function of a printing, scanning, facsimile, or multifunction device having a scanner and a plurality of functions. The method includes scanning a tag, receiving information from the tag, and allowing access to the at least one specialty function, if appropriate information is received from the tag. The tag can be scanned by either an optical scanner or read by a variety of wireless tag readers.

  • Patent number: 6377764
Abstract: In a digital printing apparatus, various modules each perform a specific function, such as paper feeding, marking sheets, interpreting image data from high-level formats, and performing finishing operations. One or more of these modules includes a board therein, which is able to communicate with another board within the apparatus by infrared or other wireless communication. Such wireless communication obviates the need for large and expensive wire harnesses. There may further be provided barrier structures within the apparatus to prevent crosstalk among various wireless-capable boards. The interaction of the modules facilitates a method of outputting prints.
