  • Publication number: 20090048683
Abstract: A tissue positioning device comprising a biocompatible member having a size and shape suitable for placement within a space adjacent to a tissue to be positioned and which acts to maintain the tissue in a desired position. The member may be a rigid or flexible spacer having a defined shape, or a bladder capable of receiving and being at least partially expanded by a filler material. The device can made from a variety of materials or a composite of materials as needed, and may include one or more attachment means by which it can be secured to nearby tissues such that it is maintained in a desired spatial location. The filler material can be any of a number of substances, including liquids, gases, a curable liquid such as bone cement or urethane foam, or a spring.

  • Patent number: 7373394
Abstract: An apparatus and method for defining content distribution paths in a content distribution network integrate unicast and multicast connections. Content engines in the content distributed network are organized into channels with a master content engine maintaining specific content. The content distribution network is further organized into a distribution hierarchy based on network topology and channel definitions, first by establishing unicast paths through the content distributed network and then by integrating multicast paths into the unicast hierarchy. The further organization of the content distribution network establishes distribution trees from the channel masters to the network edges.

  • Publication number: 20080109374
Abstract: This invention relates to methods for controlling and monitoring access to network servers. In particular, the process described in the invention includes client-server sessions over the Internet. In this environment, when the user attempts to access an access-controlled file, the server subjects the request to a secondary server which determines whether the client has an authorization or valid account. Upon such verification, the user is provided with a session identification which allows the user to access to the requested file as well as any other files within the present protection domain.

  • Patent number: 7357377
Abstract: A carburettor is connected into the inlet duct (48) of an internal combustion engine. The inlet duct is divided by a dividing wall (64) into a rich passage (42) and a lean passage (44). The carburettor includes a fuel chamber (4) and defines a flow duct divided by a planar partition (66) into a rich duct (30) and a lean duct (32) which communicate with the rich and lean passages, respectively. The partition (66) defines an aperture (40) in which a planar butterfly valve (20) is pivotably mounted. A number of fuel supply orifices (61, 62) communicate with the fuel chamber (4) and with the duct (30) at a position opposite to the aperture (40).

  • Publication number: 20080050481
Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for maintaining a controlled atmosphere having a high carbon dioxide content in a sealed container is provided. In the method, the container is substantially impermeable to oxygen and carbon dioxide and contains respiring horticultural produce. The method comprises monitoring the oxygen or carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere and, when the oxygen content approaches a level at which the produce becomes anaerobic, delivering a gas containing oxygen into the container such that the oxygen content in the atmosphere is again sufficient to allow the produce to respire. The high carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere causes the storage life of the produce to be extended.

  • Patent number: 7310162
Abstract: A method and apparatus for printing documents on a networked system. The method includes creating at least one print job associated with a user identification code, sending the at least one job to a print queue and separately conveying the user identification code to a printing device. This method could be accomplished either with a tag system or by direct data entry at the site of a printing device. The device then obtains and prints the at least one job associated with the user identification code from the print queue.

  • Patent number: 7305479
Abstract: A content delivery network has a content switch that intercepts content requests transmitted toward the origin server. The content switch distinguishes the content request as originating either external to the content delivery network or from within the content delivery network. The content switch forwards external requests to a content router, within the content delivery network and forwards internal requests to the origin server. Devices external to the content delivery network do not access the content carried by the origin server directly and, therefore, the content delivery network does not require the origin server alter its content when storing the content on a content server within the content delivery network. Use of the content switch, therefore, minimizes or eliminates the time, effort, and expense of rewriting content cached from the origin server to the content server within the content delivery network.
