    Abstract: A computed tomography system, capable of tomosynthesis, includes an inner circular gantry and an outer gantry within a housing assembly. A plurality of spaced apart radiology imaging plates are located along the inner gantry and adapted as x-ray detectors. An x-ray source is secured to the outer gantry and adapted to shoot x-rays between the spaced apart detectors and onto the patient or object while being rotated along the gantry and relative to the patient. A radiography device is moveably coupled to the inner gantry and adapted to scan and read the radiology plates and provide the data to an image processing computer. The x-ray source coupled to the outer gantry moves relative to the imaging plates such that a large number of projections can be exposed and thereafter scanned by the integral radiology device.

    Abstract: A scanning apparatus that can operate as both a computed and direct style radiography device. In the computed radiography mode, an internal imaging plate is removed or maintained inwardly within the housing assembly to allow a cassette handling mechanism holding a removable imaging plate to pass adjacent the scanning head. In the direct radiography mode, the cassette handling mechanism is retracted and the internal imaging plate is moved outward from the within the housing such that it is located adjacent the reading slot of the scan head assembly. In both modes of operation, the imaging plate being used is maintained adjacent the scan head while the scan head and imaging plate surface are moved relative to each other allowing the scanning and acquisition of the image data stored on the plate.

A suction device forming part of the first wall sucks a media object against a suction plate. The suction plate then moves the media object into engagement with the clip. The clip is driven to move the media object past a scanning window. A release lever or the clip is triggered to release the media object after it has passed the scanning window.

    Abstract: A wall mounted scanner for large and small format transmissive X-ray films and any type of transmissive media, that incorporates a viewing light box into the case to view the media before and after scanning. Transmissive media are defined as any type of media that passes light through it, specifically images on transparent film. Scanning light source can also be moved so that the unit can scan reflective media. The scanner has an external light source that shines through the media onto a lens/CCD camera. The media is transported under the light source for scanning and then it is brought back to the viewer for immediate comparison to the scanned image which is displayed on the computer monitor. The entire scanner is mounted vertically. Scanning and viewing is done in the vertical plane to allow for minimal contact between the media and scanner. It is possible to pivot the light source below the media to be scanned in order to scan reflective media.
