  • Patent number: 8979303
Abstract: A lighting fixture for protecting and mounting an array of light sources such as LED modules. The fixture includes a frame with a first surface that arcs or curves with an arc angle of between ten and fifty degrees and an arc length of between about ten to fifteen times the arc height. A plurality of LED modules including a lens and bonnet reflector are each functionally coupled against the first surface to direct a combination refracted and reflected beam pattern, the beam pattern of each LED module having an peak luminous intensity directed substantially normally from the first surface in front of and against which each LED module is functionally coupled. The peak luminous intensity of the combination refracted and reflected beam pattern associated with each LED module has a positive angle with respect to the combination refracted and reflected beam pattern from adjacently located LED modules.

  • Publication number: 20150036354
Abstract: A method and apparatus for collecting and projecting light into a specified target illuminance. A lens may be mounted or otherwise paired to a carrier to form a lens/carrier combination, which may then be mounted to a printed circuit board containing a light emitting diode (LED). The lens/carrier combination may establish an optimum optical relationship between the LED and the lens, such that a predetermined photometric distribution of the LED is collected by the lens, while the remaining photometric distribution of the LED is rejected by the carrier. The photometric distribution of neighboring LEDs, if any, may also be rejected by the carrier so that interference light may not be allowed into any lens. A diffuser may then spread the specified target illuminance into a beam pattern that may be compliant with specific standards (e.g., Department of Transportation or Economic Commission for Europe standards).

  • Publication number: 20140346951
Abstract: An LED lamp is placed in service on an automotive vehicle to enhance nighttime visual ability or anywhere where increased lighting is needed. The LED lamp utilizes a multi-stage power and control design, where the LED drive current is managed by an LED constant current controller that is coupled to a microprocessor that commands the intensity value of an LED array. The microprocessor manages the light intensity of the LED array using well known pulse-width modulation control methods. The microprocessor measures the voltage of the DC power source and to detect when DC power is removed. Once this detection has occurred, the microprocessor signals the LED current controller to change the current operational mode being delivered to the LED array to the next available operational mode, or alternatively, to the next appropriate operational mode to be used as determined by software stored within the microprocessor.

  • Patent number: 8840274
Abstract: An electronics package includes an electronic component having a light emitting diode (LED) and a protective case encapsulating the electronic component. An optical system is arranged between the electronic component and the protective case. The optical system is maneuvered to one of multiple positions via an actuator that is coupled to the optical system, where the actuator is accessible external to the protective case by the user of the electronics package. A first position of the optical system allows the light generated by the LED to be collected and/or controlled by the optical system. A second position of the optical system allows the light generated by the LED to be unaffected by the optical system. A third position of the optical system allows at least a portion of the light generated by the LED to be collected and/or controlled by the optical system and the remaining portion to be unaffected.

  • Publication number: 20140078762
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a curved lighting fixture that is symmetric about a longitudinal axis of the curved lighting fixture. The curved lighting fixture includes end caps that are parallel to the longitudinal axis. Each end cap includes two mounting studs that secure the lighting fixture to mounting brackets, where a first mounting stud provides an axis of rotation for the lighting fixture and a second mounting stud facilitates the rotation. The two mounting studs do not enter into an interior portion of the lighting fixture so as to facilitate externally serviceable hardware. A bushing provides an external retention mechanism to retain the two mounting studs within each end cap.

  • Publication number: 20140016317
Abstract: A light source having curved convex forward and rearward facing surfaces having a one-piece fixture body with a compartment including at least one light source positioned to direct light from the compartment in a forward direction towards a removable lens and a transparent media that removably couples to the compartment and secures the removable lens positioned between the at least one light source and the transparent media.

  • Publication number: 20130265755
Abstract: A lens system including one or more insertable lenses that are secured from movement relative to a protective transparent media that itself is securable to a lighting enclosure with a light source in the lighting enclosure. The insertable lenses can be removable or alternately oriented to alter the distribution of light or the projection direction of light, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7668404
Abstract: A method and system of deskewing an image. The method and system includes capturing a first image, forming a number of regions within the first image, generating a bounding rectangles for each region, calculating an area for each bounding rectangle, rotating each region by an angle within a predefined range, finding the angle that minimizes the area of each bounding rectangle, and rotating each region by the angle found.

  • Patent number: 6834929
Abstract: One step of the method includes automatically selecting a normal printing mode for printing the image on the sheet when the image can fit within a maximum printable area of the sheet for the normal printing mode, wherein the maximum printable area leaves an unprintable margin from at least one edge of the sheet. Another step includes automatically selecting a borderless printing mode for printing the image on the sheet when the image cannot fit within the maximum printable area, wherein the borderless printing mode leaves no unprintable margin from the at-least-one edge of the sheet. Such steps are performed by at least one computer program.
