  • Patent number: 9526629
Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and systems relating to spinal implants and instruments for installing such implants. In some embodiments, a spinal implant may comprise an opening configured to receive an installation rod for installing the spinal implant within an intervertebral space of a patient. The opening may be positioned within a wall of the spinal implant, and may comprise a peripheral edge defined by the wall of the spinal implant. An installation rod may be provided that may be configured to be positioned within the opening of the spinal implant, and may comprise an engagement section configured to engage a portion of the spinal implant defining the opening at a location spaced apart from the peripheral edge such that the highest forces applied to the spinal implant in coupling the spinal implant with the installation rod during installation are not applied to the portion of the opening defined by the peripheral edge.

  • Publication number: 20120109953
Abstract: The present invention creates a system for describing human experience, and creating, accessing and analyzing information that allows human experiences to be shared, compared, and analyzed. An Experience is described using Condition (C), Objective (O), and Strategy (S) attributes. Data is identified or tagged using C, O and S attributes, allowing the data to be combined to describe an experience, then making it searchable in such as way so that highly relevant information is selected, organized, and presented to the user. The system allows multiple individuals to share their experience data so that individuals can compare experiences, and make more informed choices. A system composed of experience databases, an individual's current needs, and automated computer agents, is presented to search for, select, display and update highly relevant information to the user as the user's situation changes, making information self-organizing, and automating the production of knowledge and taking actions based thereon.

  • Patent number: 5900051
Abstract: The present invention relates to conditioned pigment particle compositions which are used to color water based materials, such as hydrates, and methods for producing the conditioned pigment particle compositions. The conditioned pigment particles are made by first establishing a pigment color by selecting or combining non-conditioned pigment particles and then mixing the non-conditioned pigment particles having the desired color with an amount of binder to form agglomerated conditioned pigment particles. The conditioned pigment particles produced by the present method have an angle of repose ranging between about 28.degree. and about 34.degree. and a degradation rate of less than 5%.

  • Patent number: 5297129
Abstract: Method and apparatus for improving the characteristics of the surface effects recorded on an optical disc, for use with an optical recording apparatus which includes a writing light beam source and an optical modulator for modulating the intensity of the writing beam of light above and below a threshold level of a moving recording medium in response to a modulator drive signal for recording information on the medium, the light beam being capable of forming a track of surface effects or indicia in the moving recording medium when the writing beam is above threshold and incapable of forming surface effects in the moving recording medium when the writing beam is below threshold.
