Publication number: 20230356891Abstract: A sealable hatch assembly may include a hatch lid and an elongated pocket on the interior side of the hatch lid and extending adjacent the perimeter. The elongated pocket may at least partially define a pocket width, and the sealable hatch assembly also may include a seal member received in the elongated pocket. The seal member may be configured to provide an uninterrupted seal between the hatch lid and a hatch extension coupled to the compartment adjacent the opening. The seal member may include an inner seal portion and an outer seal portion at least partially coating the inner seal portion. The inner seal portion may be elastically compressible, and the outer seal portion may be chemically resistant. The seal member may define a cross-section having an uncompressed dimension greater than the pocket width, such that the seal member is at least partially compressed as received in the elongated pocket.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2023Publication date: November 9, 2023Inventors: Stephen P. Wilkins, Ryan Waiz

Patent number: 10302199Abstract: A seal for a rotary machine may include an end cap configured to be coupled to the rotary machine. The end cap may define an end face and a bore. The seal may also include a sleeve received through the bore of the end cap and configured to receive a shaft associated with the rotary machine. The seal may also include a collar coupled to the sleeve and configured to couple the sleeve to the shaft associated with the rotary machine. The seal may further include a spacer coupled to the end face of the end cap, in a first position, such that at least a portion the spacer is between the collar and the end face of the end cap, and, in a second position, such that the portion of the spacer is not between the collar and the end face of the end cap.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2017Date of Patent: May 28, 2019Assignee: Wilkins IP, LLCInventor: Stephen P.
