  • Publication number: 20070053676
Abstract: A method for automatic focus for an image capture device comprising a lens, the method comprising, for a first lens position, processing image data generated at a plurality of local focus positions of the lens in order to generate first metric data representing a focus measure for the first lens position, adjusting the lens position on the basis of the first metric data, and generating corresponding second metric data for at least one local focus position at the new lens position, and determining an estimated point of true focus for the lens on the basis of the first and second metric data.

  • Patent number: 7136537
Abstract: A method for selectively adjusting the amount of specular reflections appearing in the final image output by an image capturing device by blending two substantially perfectly overlapping images, one with natural specular reflections and one without specular reflections. In the combined image, the amount of specular reflection is lower than in the image having natural specular reflections, to the extent in many cases that the underlying image content can be seen. In any event, the apparatus provides means for selectively adjusting the intensity of specular reflection, or even eliminating it altogether, in each region of the image containing such reflection.

  • Publication number: 20060033835
Abstract: A digital image capture apparatus is provided which is arranged to capture at least two images of a document and combine the images to produce a final image in which the effects of specular reflection and/or ambient light are removed. The apparatus includes a light source and a first image is captured with the source illuminating the document. A second ambient image is captured with the light source switched off, and the images are combined either by subtracting the ambient image from the first image or by replacing areas of the first image by corresponding areas of the ambient image.

  • Publication number: 20050286798
Abstract: An exemplary embodiment may be generally described as a method of digitally processing data representing at least part of an image, comprising applying a first colour adjustment transform to data relating to a first range of spatial frequency of content of the image, the first transform adapted to constrain noise amplification, and applying a second colour adjustment transform to data relating to a second range of spatial frequency of content of the image.

  • Publication number: 20050286763
Abstract: A method of digitally processing data for use in representing an image, comprising scaling edge data relating to edges in at least one colour-adjusted component of the image using unadjusted data relating to a colour-unadjusted component of the image, and a device operable in accordance with the method.

  • Publication number: 20050134713
Abstract: Processing of a mosaic digital image includes interpolating values of a first color at pixels where the first color was not sampled. The interpolation of the first color value at a given pixel includes determining likelihoods of the given pixel belonging to the same region as each of at least two other pixels having sampled values of the first color. The other pixels are in different directions relative to the given pixel. The interpolation further includes using the likelihoods and the sampled values of the other pixels to interpolate the first color at the given pixel.

  • Publication number: 20050078871
Abstract: The user assistance system provides a system and method for capturing images of a document and interaction of a primary user with the document in an interaction session. Briefly described, one embodiment comprises an image capture means adapted to capture an initial image of the document and at least one subsequent, additional image of the document during an interaction session, the image being mapped to a known co-ordinate system, interaction capture means for capturing the interaction of a user with the document whereby to determine at least one co-ordinate of a pointer used for the interaction relative to the same co-ordinate system defined for the initial captured image, and processing means for determining an appropriate transform that maps the additional image onto the original image.

  • Publication number: 20050047683
Abstract: Embodiments provide a system and method for generating images of a document with interaction of a primary user with the document in an interaction session. Briefly described, one embodiment comprises an image capture means adapted to capture an initial image of the document without interaction by a user and to subsequently capture at least one additional image of the document during an interaction session including interaction from the user during that session, and a processing means adapted to generate a data set representing the interaction session from the initial image and the additional image, the data set containing at least the initial image along with information indicative of the interaction of the user during the session obtained from the additional image.

  • Publication number: 20030004742
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a business intelligence monitor method and system. The method, leveraging the functionality of an existing business information-reporting infrastructure, includes the step of authoring a monitor document derived from a determined methodology by creating one or more intelligence indicators, establishing thresholds for the one or more created intelligence indicators and selecting status definitions for the established thresholds. The method further includes the step of building a report guided by the authored monitor document by retrieving data from a data source for each of the one or more intelligence indicator, assigning statuses to each of the one or more intelligence indicators based on the retrieved data and generating a report incorporating one or more intelligence indicators, retrieved data and assigned statuses.
