  • Publication number: 20130277504
Abstract: A fixed wing of an aircraft, having a main wing extending over a half-span with a wing box including spars extending along the spanwise direction of the main wing, ribs arranged one in back of the other viewed in the spanwise direction, and an outer skin. The wing box includes a wing box base section (K10) and a wing box adapter section, that forms the outer end area of the wing box, as viewed from the wing root, and is designed to secure a wing tip device. In its nominal state of construction, the dihedral angle of the wing box adapter section referring to the respective local spanwise direction continuously increases by at most 60 degrees from the outer rib of the wing box base section (K10) up to the outermost rib of the wing box adapter section.

  • Patent number: 8489807
Abstract: Techniques for performing refresh operations is disclosed. In response to a completion of a memory operation, a determination is made whether or not a refresh backlog count is greater than a first predetermined value. In a determination that the refresh backlog count is greater than the first predetermined value, a refresh operation is performed as soon as possible. In a determination that the refresh backlog count is not greater than the first predetermined value, a refresh operation is performed after a delay of an idle count value.

  • Patent number: 8140756
Abstract: An information handling system (IHS) includes a processor with a cache memory system. The processor includes a processor core with an L1 cache memory that couples to an L2 cache memory. The processor includes an arbitration mechanism that controls load and store requests to the L2 cache memory. The arbitration mechanism includes control logic that enables a load request to interrupt a store request that the L2 cache memory is currently servicing. When the L2 cache memory finishes servicing the interrupting load request, the L2 cache memory may return to servicing the interrupted store request at the point of interruption. The control logic determines the size requirement of each load operation or store operation. When the cache memory system performs a store operation or load operation, the memory system accesses the portion of a cache line it needs to perform the operation instead of accessing an entire cache line.

  • Publication number: 20090125449
Abstract: Techniques and systems are disclosed for determining the suitability of one or more investment products for an investor. One embodiment provides a method which includes receiving (e.g., via a graphical user interface, or GUI) information defining one or more characteristics of the investor, receiving (e.g., retrieving from an electronic file storage) information defining, for each of the investment products, at least one policy which pertains to investors in the product in a manner based at least in part on the characteristic(s) of the investor, processing the information to determine whether and/or how one or more policies apply to the investor, and presenting to a user (e.g., via the GUI) an indication of whether and/or how the policy(ies) apply(ies) to the investor, thus enabling the user to evaluate the suitability of the investment product(s) for the investor.

  • Publication number: 20070191182
Abstract: An electronic transmission range selection (ETRS) system for shifting a transmission range of a transmission includes an electro-mechanical park inhibit assembly that operates to disallow the ETRS system from shifting from an Out-of-Park mode to a Park mode under certain circumstances. The park inhibit assembly includes a follower having a recess defined thereon and slidably disposed within a follower bore. In one embodiment a selectively energizable solenoid assembly is mounted substantially perpendicular to the follower and operates to bias a ball into the recess when energized thereby locking the ETRS system in the Out-of-Park mode. In another embodiment the park inhibit assembly includes a selectively energizable motor assembly mounted substantially perpendicular to the follower. The motor assembly operates to enforce the Park and Out-of-Park mode of the ETRS system.

  • Publication number: 20070116265
Abstract: The present invention provides a telephone mounting apparatus comprising a mounting bracket having one or more mounting members shaped to engage the rear portion of a telephone. The mounting bracket of the present invention provides mounting sleeves having a hollow cylindrical bore for receiving screw members. Such sleeves may be utilized to releasably attach the mounting bracket of the present invention directly to a mounting surface and/or a conventional telephone mounting box. The mounting member of the present invention provides walls defining at least one cavity through which phone cables may be inserted. In one embodiment, the cavity of the present invention has a generally rectangular configuration and is positioned upon the mounting bracket so as to be adjacent to one or more attachment ports of the telephone. The relative positioning of the cavity allows cables to be connected and/or disconnected in a convenient manner.

  • Publication number: 20070014651
Abstract: Provided is a post with a head that is pushed through the binder of a scrap book. The post has a number of angular protrusions, each of which together define one of more channels which line up with each other. On the head side of each ring or angular protrusions is one or more fixation protrusions. A corresponding sliding washer is constructed such that there is a hole in the middle and one or more tabs that extend into the hole. The sliding washer slides over the post when the tabs line up with the channels and secures the binding when rotated such that the tabs and channels do not line up. Further, the fixation protrusions in the angular protrusions fit into corresponding notches in the sliding washer such that the sliding washer will not rotate once secured unless pressure is applied to disengage the fixation protrusions from the notches.

  • Patent number: 6581925
Abstract: Sheet feed apparatus including a scuff feed for reliably transporting sheets from different types of sheet stacks and different types of sheets within the stack. The apparatus comprises a sheet feed roller and a retard device in contact with the feed roller. A nudging device, contacting a paper stack, is used to feed single or multiple sheets into the nip between the feed roller and retard device. The feed roller, retard device, and nudging device all have a surface layer of 35-28092-N-GY-A, which gives them a much longer useful lifetime. A method for maximizing the efficent use of these rollers and of testing and using these rollers is also disclosed.
