  • Patent number: 4753633
Abstract: A fluid stream solids separator provides a curved flow confining chamber to cause heavier constituents in a fluid stream, or slurry, flowing in the resulting curved path in the chamber to migrate radially outward with time and distance travelled. At least one skimmer blade is provided to protrude some distance into the stream from the radially outer flow boundary. The blade skims a strata of the heavier constituents from the stream and directs skimmed products into a separate exit flow path. A series of skimmer blades can be used to skim consecutive strata from the main stream. Fluid flow confining chambers of both mushroom and cylindrical shape are provided. Adjustment means, optionally provided, move the input guiding surfaces to change velocity and move the skimmer blades to change the thickness of strata extracted from the main stream.

  • Patent number: 4733723
Abstract: A well apparatus connected to a pipe string extending down into a cased borehole for treating a formation comprising a packer assembly for sealing with the casing assembly and an integral crossover/release assembly attached to the packer assembly, and closing a channel between the tubing bore and the lower extremity of the gravel screen before or after treating the formation. Before releasing the screen, a channel exists between the tubing bore and a projecting wash pipe extending below the gravel screen. Releasing the screen closes the lower screen penetrating channel.

  • Patent number: 4701869
Abstract: A combination of systems to measure the length of pipe sections and to label the pipe surface with machine readable labels. The combination also commits to memory the data and specifications read from the label or derived from correlative information already in memory. Summation of pipe joint data and specifications provide overall pipe string data. From the collective pipe string data, the reaction of the string to the input of physical forces can be predicted and evaluated.

  • Patent number: 4512216
Abstract: A motor driven serpentine chain circulating device for spinning drill pipe into engagement for final tightening by other devices. Jaws are closed and locked to position chain for embracing pipe before the chain tension is applied. Chain tension does not depend upon exact positioning of the jaw closure. Optional sequencing system speeds operation.

  • Patent number: 4077525
Abstract: Derrick mounted apparatus for the manipulation of lengths of pipe in or out of one or more finger boards in proximity thereto comprising a pipe manipulating arm adapted to move along a single predetermined line and a pipe gripping hand rotatably attached to one end of the pipe manipulating arm, the pipe gripping hand being capable of accepting and discharging pipe in an angular direction with respect to the line of movement of the arm.
