  • Patent number: 11938459
Abstract: Processes for removing arsenic compounds from a feed stream using an adsorbent in disclosed. The process includes contacting a feed stream comprising at least arsenic and sulfur compounds with an adsorbent comprising an low-crystallinity manganese oxide, at least one halide and a binder, to provide a treated effluent substantially free of the arsenic and sulfur compounds.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 13, 2021
Date of Patent: March 26, 2024
    Assignee: UOP LLC
Inventors: Stephen R. Caskey, Michael B. Hamoy

  • Patent number: 10744492
Abstract: A process is provided for removing contaminants from olefin containing C4 streams. The streams are contacted with an X based zeolite adsorbent comprising greater than 88% X zeolite at a SiO2/Al2O3 ratio of less than 2.5 and an alkali metal salt present in excess of an amount required to achieve full exchange of cation sites on the X based zeolite. The resulting alkali oxide on a volatile free basis is less than 1% (by mass) of the X based adsorbent. The contaminants that are removed include sulfur, oxygenate, and nitrogen based contaminants.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 3, 2017
Date of Patent: August 18, 2020
    Assignee: UOP LLC

  • Publication number: 20180319674
Abstract: The invention provides a bound sulfided metal containing metals such as nickel, cobalt, iron manganese or zinc for removing selenocyanate from aqueous streams. The binder may be alumina, silica, clay or metal oxide. The amount of sulfur in the bound sulfided metal may range from 5-75% by weight. In one embodiment, the bound sulfided metal is formed and reduced and placed in a column system that comprises one or more columns and may comprise a Lead-Lag1-Lag2-Polisher series of columns.

  • Publication number: 20130204064
Abstract: A method of removing O2, CO, H2, mercury, and/or sulfur from a fluid stream using a sorbent comprising metallic copper. The metallic copper is formed from direct reduction of a supported copper oxysalt by exposure to a reducing agent at a temperature of between about 40° C. and about 220° C.
