  • Patent number: 6501017
Abstract: An electromagnetic radiation seal, particularly adapted for sealing a rotary or linearly movable shaft penetrating a shielded enclosure includes a housing mountable on an enclosure wall and forming a cavity delimited by the housing and the shaft and which is filled with metal particulates, such as tungsten or lead shot pellets. The metal particulates are in intimate contact with the shaft and with the seal housing to prevent transmission of electromagnetic radiation between the interior and exterior of the enclosure at the penetration formed by the shaft.

  • Publication number: 20020106259
Abstract: A nonmetallic threaded fastener, such as a machine screw or bolt, is formed by injection molding a plastic head over one end of a continuously threaded shank, preferably formed of glass fiber reinforced plastic. The fastener is formed in a three part mold including a first part threadedly connected to the shank and received in a bore in a second part of the mold. The second mold part is joined to a third part which includes a cavity for receiving molten plastic to form the fastener head integrally molded to one end of the continuously threaded shank part.

  • Patent number: 5379048
Abstract: An automatic tilt apparatus for use with electromagnetic emission testing devices. The apparatus enables the user to always bore-sight, that is, to point the antenna directly at the object being tested regardless of the height of the antenna. The apparatus utilizes a cam plate to achieve automatic tilting. A threaded rod, connected to the vertical drive mechanism of the testing device converts the rotary motion of the sprocket drive to a horizontal motion. The threaded rod is located within a boom that connects to the testing device. The linear, horizontal motion of the threaded rod causes a first bolt within a slot of the boom to move. A cam plate is attached to the carrier boom via the first bolt and a second bolt which is fastened through an arcuate slot in the cam. The motion of the first bolt causes the second bolt to follow the geometry of the acrucate slot, thus causing The cam plate to tilt in accordance with the vertical height of the testing device.
