  • Publication number: 20080298865
Abstract: An apparatus is mounted on a moveable carriage of an external drum platesetter for removing air-borne ablative particles caused when a printing plate mounted on an outside surface of a rotating drum of the platesetter is imaged via a laser source having a window for transmitting a laser beam. The apparatus includes a nozzle, a redirecting surface and a vacuum chamber. The nozzle transmits a line of compressed air towards the redirecting surface which in turn redirects and splits the line of compressed air into two parts. A first part is directed towards the drum and a second part is diverted towards the laser window. The vacuum chamber is connected to a vacuum channel for removing air including the ablative particles.

  • Patent number: 7134214
Abstract: An illuminated ruler including a light transmissive bar having opposed ends. An opaque film bearing printed indicia in the form of ruled markings is affixed to the bottom of the light transmissive bar. A light-emitting diode is embedded within the light transmissive bar for illuminating the ruled markings. A battery is carried atop one end of the bar and is connected to the light-emitting diode for energizing and illuminating the light-emitting diode.

  • Patent number: 6184520
Abstract: An imaging system including a one-piece aluminum internal drum casting having reduced weight and increased stiffness. The internal drum is mounted to the frame structure of the imaging system using a plurality of mounts positioned in a plane substantially along the center of gravity of the internal drum. The mounts reduce the amount of sway of the internal drum within the frame structure.

  • Patent number: 6133936
Abstract: A system for holding recording media onto a media support surface, comprises, a media support element including a media support surface and a second side, substantially opposing the media support surface. A plurality of vacuum ports pass from the media support surface to the second side and communicate with a device for drawing air through each of the plurality of vacuum ports to hold the recording media against said media support surface. A sequencing manifold connected between the device for drawing air and the plurality of vacuum ports selectively draws air through a portion of the plurality of vacuum ports over a region substantially matching the size of the recording media.

  • Patent number: 6047733
Abstract: A sequencing manifold for selectively drawing air from a plurality of vacuum channels, comprises, a fixed element having an outer surface and an internal cylinder, the fixed element further including a plurality of holes passing from the outer surface to the internal cylinder, the plurality of holes communicating with the plurality of vacuum channels. A piston is movably disposed within the internal cylinder and includes a hollow portion in communication with a device for drawing air. The piston is movable within the internal cylinder to align the hollow portion with a predetermined number of the plurality of holes for selectively drawing air from the predetermined number of the plurality of holes.
