  • Patent number: 4924265
Abstract: The present invention is a control for automatically providing inserts into a copy set corresponding to inserts in the document set including an optical sensor responding to the reflectance of an original document that allows logic circuitry to determine if the original is white or non-white paper. If non-white, the logic of the control switches to a predetermined paper feed tray or paper bypass where the operator has placed an insert copy paper or cover stock, thus, the appropriate paper tray is selected to place inserts in the correct locations within the copy sheet.

  • Patent number: 4768068
Abstract: In a document handling system for a copier with a moving platen imaging system, wherein the platen is integral a moving platen unit reciprocally driven relative to the stationary body of the copier in a non-imaging movement and in an imaging movement for imaging a document sheet moving with the platen at a stationary narrow imaging station underlying the platen, including a document registration and clamping system adjacent one end of the moving platen unit and a system for opening and closing it to receive and clamp one end of the document sheet, a stationary document sheet input system for guiding the document sheet into the registration and clamping system while it is opened, and a narrow imaging backing plate, not moving with the moving platen unit, for closely and stationarily overlying only a minor portion of the platen to provide a light reflective imaging background surface optically overlying only the imaging station.

  • Patent number: 4727401
Abstract: Method and apparatus for advancing two simplex documents from an input stack to a copying platen, for making a desired number of duplex copies therefrom. A first simplex document is advanced to a registration position, a second simplex document is subsequently advanced to a registration position with respect to the first document, and the documents thus registered are moved simultaneously to a copying position for sequential copying, and subsequent to scanning the documents a desired number of times to produce a number of copies, are moved to an output.
