Abstract: Disclosed is a method of operating an internal combustion engine (20) with a fuel injection system (11;12) including an injector (12) for delivery of a fuel-gas mixture to a combustion chamber (60) of the engine (20). The engine (20) includes a gas supply system (11;13) pressurized at start-up through a pump-up sequence to a desired pressure for injection of fuel to the engine (20). In the pump-up sequence, the injector (12) is opened allowing pressurized gas to flow from the combustion chamber (60) through the injector (12) and into the gas supply system (11;13). This pressurizes the gas supply system (11;13) when pressure in the combustion chamber (60) is higher than the pressure in the gas supply system (11;13).

Abstract: A method of controlling the oil flow rate for an internal combustion engine including: a) defining a break-in period of the engine; b) determining whether the engine is running within the break-in period; and c) varying the oil flow rate for the engine if the engine is running within said break-in period from the oil flow rate for the engine when running under normal conditions outside the break-in period such that the oil flow rate during the break-in period is generally higher than the oil flow rate under normal engine conditions.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of operation of a marine engine comprising sensing an operator demand for a gear-shift and, in response to the sensing of said operator demand, varying the engine torque profile to enable said gear-shift. Typically, the engine torque profile is required to be varied to overcome forces resistive to gear-shift.

Abstract: A method of controlling the air supply to a scavenged internal combustion engine having a blower for suppling air thereto and bypass means for allowing a bypass air flow from the outlet side of the blower to the inlet side thereof, the method including regulating the bypass air flow through the bypass means to provide a variable rate of air flow therethrough and regulating the flow of ambient air to the blower to thereby control the pressure of the intake air supply to the blower and controlling a supply of recirculated exhaust gas introduced upstream of the blower by controlling the flow rate of ambient air to the blower such that a requisite pressure is generated upstream of the blower to thereby control the exhaust gas flow rate.
