Abstract: A system, device, and method for tracking and monitoring mobile phone usage while operating a vehicle in order to deter and prevent such usage are disclosed. The system comprises a device that engages with both a user's vehicle and an application on a user's mobile phone to monitor the usage of a mobile phone in a vehicle, to prevent certain functions of the mobile phone, and to select which mobile phone features are available to a user when the device and the mobile phone application are connected. The device, in combination with the mobile phone application, is capable of recording information on the device and/or mobile phone application about certain behaviors the user engages in on the mobile phone while operating a vehicle.
