    Abstract: A downhole fluid may be circulated within a wellbore where the downhole fluid may include at least a modified perlite and/or an aerogel. The amount of the modified perlite and/or aerogel within the downhole fluid may range from about 5 vol % to about 30 vol % of the downhole fluid of the total amount of the downhole fluid. The downhole fluid may be a drilling fluid, completion fluid, lost circulation pill, displacement pill, and combinations thereof. The material may help the downhole fluid maintain a relatively low density of less than about 1100 kg/m3.
