  • Publication number: 20070233013
Abstract: Moveable tissue engaging members and methods of fabricating and using the same are provided.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 31, 2006
    Publication date: October 4, 2007

  • Patent number: 6328229
Abstract: A device for mixing and ejecting a multi-component reactive mixture, which will not clog after a single and subsequent uses, is disclosed. The device has a cylindrical mixing space defined by upper, lower, and side walls. There are two entry ports into the mixing space defined by and tangent to the side wall. Two fluid component sources are fluidly connected to the entry ports and are pressurized such that two fluids, which react with each other, separately enter the mixing space. The side wall of the mixing space imparts a rotational motion to the fluids, which causes the fluids to thoroughly mix together before being ejected out through the exit orifice in either a spray or stream form. A valve stem may be provided, which is configured and dimensioned to substantially occupy the mixing space and to seal the two entry ports when it is in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 6123687
Abstract: A device for sample collection, sample separation and for aseptically, controllably and precisely transferring at least one of the separated portions is disclosed. The device utilizes a metering syringe to collect a sample, such as blood, the metering syringe with the sample therein is centrifuged, the metering syringe is connected to a sterile syringe contained within sterile packaging, the metering syringe is used to controllably, precisely and aseptically meter a separated portion into the sterile syringe, the sterile syringe with the separated portion therein is then given to appropriate personnel within a sterile field without performing any further transferring steps.

  • Patent number: 5888826
Abstract: The present invention provides novel test cartridges for use in the assay of liquid samples and methods of carrying out such assays. These test cartridges are particularly useful in assays which include at least one step during which the sample to be assayed and one or more components of the assay system are kept separated by a pierceable member. The test cartridges comprise a housing through which the sample flows during the assay. The housing includes a holding chamber for holding the sample and a test chamber separated by a pierceable member having a cut therein. The test chamber further includes a partition member which has an opening therethrough and includes at least one reagent for the assay. A transfer member movably mounted in the test chamber can move towards and pierce the pierceable member by moving through the cut and contact the liquid sample in the holding chamber.
