  • Patent number: 11515628
Abstract: An information handling system operating a reconfigurable antenna training control system may comprise a configurable antenna system in one of a plurality of available configurations transceiving a radio frequency signal, and a radio frequency system measuring performance metrics for the signal transceived according to each available configuration over a training time period preset based on historical performance and stability of each available configuration. An antenna front end system may execute instructions of the reconfigurable antenna training control system to determine a weighted performance metric based on the measured performance metrics and on historical performance metrics for each candidate configuration, to compare the weighted performance metrics for each configuration, and to identify one of the configurations having a highest weighted performance metric as an optimal configuration. The configurable antenna may then establish a wireless link using the optimal configuration.

  • Patent number: 10736118
Abstract: A wireless adapter front end for an information handling system may comprise a wireless adapter for receiving content via a transceiving antenna configurable to have a plurality of antenna radiation patterns, and a controller. The controller may execute code instructions to receive a trigger input indicating decreased signal strength, measure RSSI variance of the wireless link, measure a rate of mobility of the information handling system determined from accelerometer data or velocity data, identify an allotted training duration time period associated with the rate of mobility and RSSI variance, identify an optimal antenna pattern associated with a highest quality link within the allotted training duration time period, and instruct the transceiving antenna to operate according to the optimal antenna pattern.

  • Publication number: 20060135095
Abstract: In the present power control technique, a power control circuit (404) that is operably coupled to a receiver circuit (412) assesses (514, 522) a tclip adjust value based on a power cutback value from the receiver circuit. The tclip adjust value is forwarded to a peak to average ratio control circuit (402) operably coupled to the power control circuit (404), and using the tclip adjust value, an adjust peak power signal is accordingly assessed (612).

  • Publication number: 20050207389
Abstract: Wireless communications devices (102, 104, 106) that communicate via an adaptive bandwidth communications protocol (300). Wireless devices (102, 104, 106) utilize a multiple carrier time division/frequency division multiplexing format where time slots (330, 332) are adaptively assigned across multiple RF carriers. Preferred embodiments assign time coincident time slots (330, 340, 350, 360) on multiple RF carriers so as to allow shorter transmission and reception times and therefore shorter transmitter and receiver activation times in order to conserve power in portable devices (104, 106). Time slots are adaptively assigned and deallocated in response to events that alter communications bandwidth requirements.

  • Publication number: 20040176083
Abstract: A method and a computer readable medium for reducing distractions of a mobile device user include determining, if a mobile device is moving; and if the mobile device is moving, then selecting a message for notifying a caller that a called party is unavailable. Determining is done from the viewpoints of a mobile device and a mobile service provider. Preferably, determining if the mobile device is moving includes checking with a GPS system if coordinates are changing within a given limit. The mobile device includes a controller; a detector coupled to the controller for detecting if the mobile device is moving in a given region; and means for selecting a message for notifying a caller that a called party is unavailable. In one embodiment, the detector is a GPS receiver.
