  • Publication number: 20050188745
Abstract: A system for generating electricity includes a generator and an interface. The generator is coupled to the interface and provides data to the interface regarding electricity generation. The interface is coupled to a control node for monitoring and controlling the generator. The control node may be coupled to the generator through a medium such as the internet. In some aspects of the invention, a continuous emissions monitoring system is provided for fossil-fuel based generators to enhance operation and reduce emissions of such generators.

  • Publication number: 20050069455
Abstract: A circulating flow of liquid gasoline is provided to a chemical analyzer for analyzing sulfur concentration. The chemical analyzer vaporizes and combusts a sample of the gasoline to provide an exhaust gas that includes sulfur dioxide produced by combusting the sulfur concentration. The exhaust gas is pressurized and delivered to a flame photometric detector which detects the sulfur dioxide concentration. The sulfur content is inferred from the sulfur dioxide concentration.

  • Publication number: 20050042133
Abstract: A chemical analyzer probe includes a gland extending from a tubular end to a second gland end connectable to a chemical analyzer. The gland has a sealing surface that seals to the opening. A porous tubular filter is joined to the tubular end of the gland and forms a filter cavity holding a filter fluid. A coating on the porous tubular filter is formed of a chemically selective material that allows a first chemical in the process fluid to flow into the filter fluid, while excluding a second chemical in the process fluid. A sensor couples to the filter fluid for sensing and connectable to a chemical analyzer through the second gland end.

  • Patent number: 6846458
Abstract: A process analytic system provides communication between a process analyzer and process sample handling system. The communication allows the process analyzer to modify at least one parameter of the sample handling system to facilitate quick and efficient setup, calibration, and maintenance of the process analytic system. The process analytic system includes a sample handling system that is coupled to a process analyzer to provide a process sample to the process analyzer, and to communicate with the process analyzer. The process analyzer can command the sample handling system to modify at least one sample handling parameter. The process analyzer can modify sample handling parameters based upon sample analysis, diagnostics of the sample handling system, or both.

  • Publication number: 20040182134
Abstract: A gas chromatograph is provided for measuring energy content of a sample. The gas chromatograph includes a sample handling system enclosure and an analyzer enclosure. The sample handling system enclosure has a sample inlet port to receive a sample from a sample probe. The analyzer enclosure contains a first sample loop having a first volume, a second sample loop having a second volume, and a third sample loop having a third volume. Each of the first, second and third sample loops are operably coupled to the sample inlet port. First, second and third analysis columns are disposed within the analyzer enclosure and operably coupled to first, second and third sample loops, respectively. A thermal conductivity detector is disposed in the analyzer enclosure and includes a first portion operably coupled to the first column, and a second portion operably coupled to the second and third columns. The thermal conductivity detector provides signals indicative of thermal conductivity of each portion.

  • Publication number: 20040149011
Abstract: An on-line process gas chromatograph is provided which includes carrier gas flow components that control carrier gas flow through a gas chromatograph oven maintained at an elevated temperature. The carrier gas flow components are disposed relative to the gas chromatograph oven such that they are not subject to the temperatures present within the oven itself.

  • Publication number: 20040149053
Abstract: A sample handling system includes a sample probe that is adapted to intermix a solvent with a sample obtained from a process to dissolve undesirable components within a sample. A separator is provided in the sample handling system that receives the solvent/sample mixture and separates the sample from the solvent and undesirable solutes. The so separated sample is then provided to a suitable analyzer for analysis.

  • Publication number: 20030205077
Abstract: A continuous on-line combustion-type carbon analyzer for water applications is provided. The analyzer receives a continuous stream of sample and carbon dioxide-free gas. The analyzer includes control components to limit sample flow into a combustion furnace such that excessive pressures and thermal stresses are minimized. The sample specimen is oxidized within the combustion furnace and the oxidized sample is conveyed to a detector that provides a continuous read-out of carbon quantity in the sample stream.
