Patent number: 11933530Abstract: A HVACR protection system can include a pressure sensor to sense pressure within a refrigerant line coupled to a compressor; a timer; and a protection system controller. A compressor controller in communication with the protection system controller can control operation of the compressor and disable the compressor until successful completion of a vacuum test of the refrigerant line. The vacuum test can initiate upon the pressure sensor sensing the pressure being less than or equal to a vacuum test pressure, at which point the timer begins timing for a vacuum test time period. The vacuum test is successfully completed upon expiration of the vacuum test time period with the pressure remaining less than or equal to the vacuum test pressure for the vacuum test time period. The protection system controller can enable the compressor controller to operate the compressor upon successful completion of the vacuum test.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Rodney Minchey, Stephen T. Patent number: 11536958Abstract: A deformable mirror can include a reservoir containing a ferrofluid. The deformable mirror can also include a reflective face sheet covering a front side of the reservoir such that a back side of the reflective face sheet is exposed to the ferrofluid. The reflective face sheet can have a reflective surface on a front side of the reflective face sheet opposite the back side. The reflective face sheet can have a non-uniform thickness between the front and back sides of the reflective face sheet to provide stiffness for the reflective face sheet. In addition, the deformable mirror can include one or more electromagnets operable to generate a magnetic field that acts on the ferrofluid to deform the reflective face sheet. A deformable mirror system can further include a control system operably coupled to the one or more electromagnets to control the magnetic field and thereby a deformation of the reflective face sheet.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2020Date of Patent: December 27, 2022Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Peter Chung, Brett A. Publication number: 20220235986Abstract: A heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) protection system can include a pressure sensor operable to sense a pressure within a refrigerant line operably coupled to a compressor; a timer; and a protection system controller. The protection system controller can be in communication with the pressure sensor, the timer, and a compressor controller operable to control operation of the compressor. The protection system controller can disable the compressor controller from operating the compressor until successful completion of a vacuum test of at least the refrigerant line. The protection system controller can be configured to initiate the vacuum test upon the pressure sensor sensing the pressure of the refrigerant line less than or equal to a vacuum test pressure, at which point the timer begins timing for a vacuum test time period.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 11, 2022Publication date: July 28, 2022Inventors: Rodney Minchey, Stephen T. Patent number: 11372227Abstract: A microsection sample stabilizer for aligning and stabilizing a microsection sample for microscopic inspection includes a frame including a base and at least one leveling portion supported by the base. The at least one leveling portion can define a viewing window for a microscope. The microsection sample stabilizer includes an interior region within the frame, and at least one compliant device operable within the interior region of the frame and operable to be supported by the base. The compliant device receives and supports the microsection sample, and biases the microsection sample against the at least one leveling portion of the frame to stabilize the microsection sample, such that an examination plane surface of the microsection sample is aligned and viewable through the viewing window by the microscope.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2019Date of Patent: June 28, 2022Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Darrin Green, Stephen T. Fasolino, Joseph F. Colangelo
