  • Patent number: 8211419
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for attracting and thereby controlling bedbugs. One volatizes a synthetic pheromone and generates infrared radiation adjacent the location and exposes bedbugs thereto. The pheromone volatizer and/or radiation generator are preferably incorporated into traps, bait stations and monitoring stations.

  • Publication number: 20070132598
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for affecting movement of a cockroach by attracting a cockroach to a specified location or repelling a cockroach from a specified location. One generates a cockroach wing-fanning sound adjacent the location and exposes the cockroach to the sound. Acoustic generators emitting wing-fanning sound are preferably incorporated into insect traps, insect bait stations and insect repelling stations.

Inventors: Rosanna Wijenberg, Stephen Takacs, Gerhard Gries
  • Publication number: 20070107297
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for affecting movement of an insect with respect to a specified location. One generates an electromagnetic field adjacent the location and exposes the insect to the field. Preferably the insect is a crawling insect such as a German cockroach, earwig, firebrat, or a silverfish. To attract insects, the strength of the field is not so high as to be repulsive to the insect, yet sufficiently strong as to be attractive. Such field generators are preferably incorporated into insect traps and insect bait stations.

  • Publication number: 20060040403
Abstract: A method and apparatus for chemical analysis is disclosed that uses a sample cup insert. The insert is pre-coated with a reaction agent, enzyme, or chemical to facilitate testing of the sample. A sample fluid in the sample cup is agitated by fluid pulsing to speed the reaction or to speed a pre-conditioning step.

  • Publication number: 20050241703
Abstract: A multi-port precision valve with a rotor having the valve face moved to a chamfered surface. The chamfered valve face makes an angle with respect to the axis of rotation of the rotor. The exit ports make an angle with respect to the valve face of between 70 and 90 degrees.

  • Publication number: 20050196319
Abstract: A cell for chemical analysis is disclosed that increases the surface area over standard discrete cells for approximately the same sample volume. The surface area is pre-coated with a reaction agent, enzyme, or chemical to facilitate testing of the sample. The cell may be in a configuration to contain any toxic reaction agent after use.
