  • Patent number: 9942878
Abstract: A method and apparatus for selecting a TFC in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is disclosed. The WTRU estimates a transmit power for each of a plurality of available transport format combinations (TFCs). A TFC is selected for an uplink dedicated channel and a TFC is selected for an enhanced uplink (EU) channel. The TFC for the dedicated channel is selected first and independently of the TFC selection of the EU channel. The TFC for the EU channel is selected within a remaining WTRU transmit power after the TFC selection for the dedicated channel.

  • Patent number: 7932703
Abstract: A delay applied to a turn-on time for a high side switch in a switch mode power converter prevents oscillation between continuous and discontinuous conduction modes under light load conditions. The delay equalizes turn-on time for a high side switch with respect to continuous and discontinuous modes, so that turn-on time is not treated differently between the different modes. The delay value can be set for be equivalent to a propagation delay through a driver for a low side switch, in addition to a turn-off time for the low side switch. The addition of the delay element tends to maintain the switch mode power converter in a discontinuous mode under light load conditions and avoids oscillation between discontinuous and continuous conduction modes.

  • Patent number: 7514998
Abstract: The present invention relates to a reference current circuit. The reference circuit comprises a low-level current bias circuit, a voltage proportional-to-absolute temperature generator for creating a proportional-to-absolute temperature voltage (VPTAT), and a MOSFET-based constant-IC regulator circuit. The MOSFET-based constant-IC regulator circuit includes a constant-IC input and constant-IC output. The constant-IC input is electrically connected with the VPTAT generator such that the voltage proportional-to-absolute temperature is the input into the constant-IC regulator circuit. Thus the constant-IC output maintains the constant-IC ratio across any temperature range.

  • Publication number: 20080096602
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and system for enabling efficient reduction of TFCs in the TFCS to achieve desired transmission, while remaining within desired power and data requirements. Upon the UE transmission power requirement exceeding the maximum or allowable transmission power the MAC shall be informed for subsequent TFC selection of all TFCs that currently exceed this limit. The UE will then chose the TFC with the next lower transmission power requirement and the sequence will continue until an acceptable TFC is determined. The present invention also enables the replacement of the TFCs in the TFCS and advanced determination of non-supported TFCS. The TFCs that require transmission power greater then the maximum or allowed UE transmission power shall be determined continuously in every TTI, not just in TTIs where the maximum power has been exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20080090583
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for resource allocation signaling for grouping user real time services. Uplink signaling for voice activity reporting of each user's transition between an active state and an inactive voice state is sent from a wireless transmit/receive unit to a Node B. Radio resource allocation to users of a wireless communication system varies based on user measurement reporting, a pre-determined pattern such as frequency hopping, or a pseudorandom function. Grouping methods are adjusted to better utilize the voice activity factor, so that statistical multiplexing can be used to more efficiently utilize physical resources.

  • Publication number: 20080084849
Abstract: A method and apparatus for uplink synchronization during handover are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) measures a downlink receipt timing difference between a source Node-B and a target Node-B. The WTRU calculates a target Node-B timing advance value based on the downlink receipt timing difference, a source Node-B timing advance value, and a relative downlink transmit timing difference between the target Node-B and the source Node-B. The WTRU then applies the target Node-B timing advance value in transmission to the target Node-B. The source Node-B may calculate the relative downlink transmit timing difference between the target Node-B and the source Node-B, and send it to the WTRU. The source Node-B may provide the source Node-B timing advance value more frequently during handover. The WTRU may measure the downlink receipt timing difference by averaging multiple first significant paths (FSPs) over a certain time window.

  • Publication number: 20080080516
Abstract: A method and apparatus of adaptive sequence numbering in a wireless communication system includes determining whether or not a packet to be transmitted will be segmented. Based upon the segmentation determination, a determination as to whether or not to include a radio link controller (RLC) specific automatic repeat request (ARQ) sequence number (SN) to the packet is made. An indicator is added to indicate whether or not the RLC-specific ARQ SN is included in the packet. The packet is transmitted, and an acknowledgment (ACK) is received for the transmitted packet.

  • Publication number: 20080059859
Abstract: In a wireless communication system including at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and at least one Node-B (NB), an activation or deactivation state is determined for each of a plurality of HARQ processes. A signal that includes the activation or deactivation state for each of the HARQ processes is transmitted to the WTRU. In response to receiving the signal, the WTRU activates or deactivates a particular HARQ process in accordance with the activation or deactivation state for each of the HARQ processes contained in the received signal.

  • Publication number: 20080052591
Abstract: A user equipment comprises a transmitter and an adaptive modulation and coding controller. The transmitter is configured to transmit data over an air interface in a single transmission time interval with a first specified modulation and coding scheme, where the single transmission time interval has a plurality of transport block sets. In response to receiving a repeat request for retransmission of at least one particular transport block set, the transmitter retransmits the at least one of the particular transport block sets. The adaptive modulation and coding controller is configured to change the specified modulation and coding scheme to a second specified modulation and coding scheme, enabling a combining of a particular transport block set transmitted at the first specified modulation and coding scheme with a retransmitted version of the particular transport block set transmitted at the second specified modulation and coding scheme.

  • Publication number: 20080045219
Abstract: A wireless communication method and apparatus for recovering data following a serving cell change are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) includes a status prohibit timer that delays the transmission of normal status reports that indicate the status of data, (i.e., PDUs), that was successfully received and/or not successfully received after a serving cell change status report is sent. A serving radio network controller (SRNC) transmits a sequence of packet data units (PDUs). The status prohibit timer is advanced and the WTRU sends a normal status report to the SRNC without a delay caused by the status prohibit timer. In another embodiment, the WTRU receives a radio link control (RLC) intelligence mode indicator signal that indicates whether a non-intelligent radio network controller (RNC) RLC operation or an intelligent RNC RLC operation is in effect, and the WTRU generates normal status reports based on the indication of the signal.

  • Publication number: 20080043619
Abstract: A transmitter may instruct a receiver to move a receive window if the transmitter cannot retransmit a packet in response to an automatic repeat request (ARQ) status report and a hybrid ARQ (HARQ) feedback error report. The transmitter may advance a transmit window upon receipt of a local acknowledgement if the packet is in an ongoing flow and advance the transmit window when the packet is acknowledged by a status report if the packet is an isolated packet. The transmitter may perform a retransmission based on context in which the retransmission is requested. The transmitter may send an acknowledgement to the status report or the HARQ feedback error report. The transmitter may specify whether an HARQ feedback error report or a status report is allowed. The receiver may adjust the level of robustness and error protection for the HARQ feedback based on an indication from the transmitter.
