Abstract: In large distributed computing environments, application execution may be distributed between a plurality of groups, the plurality of groups containing a set of host computer systems responsible for the execution of one or more operations of the application. Group membership may be determined by generating configuration information based at least in part on the plurality of groups. The configuration information may be provided to a plurality of host computer systems and each host computer system of the plurality of host computer systems may determine membership to a particular group of the plurality of groups based at least in part on the configuration information.

Abstract: A service provider network includes a host computer that communicates with a plurality of client devices associated with a user. In order to synchronize the plurality of client devices with respect to content stored within the service provider network, a synchronization service checks to determine if a checkpoint is present within the synchronization service when a request for updated content is received from one of the client devices. If no checkpoint is present in the synchronization service, then content within the user's account may have been updated. If a checkpoint is stored within the synchronization service, then the checkpoint in the synchronization service is compared with a checkpoint in the request. If the checkpoint in the synchronization service is older, content in the user's account has not been updated. If the checkpoint in the request is older, then content in the user's account may have been updated.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the generation of steam via the use of a combustion process to produce heat and, in one embodiment, to a device, system and/or method that enables one to control one or more process parameters of a combustion process so as to yield at least one desirable change in at least one downstream parameter. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to measuring or determining at least one process parameter of a combustion system and using the information obtained from same to control at least one component of the combustion system.
