  • Patent number: 11594301
Abstract: System and method for constructing a hierarchical index table usable for matching a search sequence to reference data. The index table may be constructed to contain entries associated with an exhaustive list of all subsequences of a given length, wherein each entry contains the number and locations of matches of each subsequence in the reference data. The hierarchical index table may be constructed in an iterative manner, wherein entries for each lengthened subsequence are selectively and iteratively constructed based on the number of matches being greater than each of a set of respective thresholds. The hierarchical index table may be used to search for matches between a search sequence and reference data, and to perform misfit identification and characterization upon each respective candidate match.

  • Patent number: 6944315
Abstract: A gesture recognition process includes tracking an object in two frames of video, determining differences between a location of the object in one frame of the video and a location of the object in another frame of the video, obtaining a direction of motion of the object based on the differences, and recognizing a gesture of the object based, at least in part, on the direction of motion of the object.

  • Patent number: 6618442
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transcoding a digital video signal is described. A first set of bits encoded in a first encoding format are received. The first set of bits are decoded to discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients. The DCT coefficients are transformed into an intermediate exchange format. The transformed DCT coefficients are encoded using a second encoding format.

  • Patent number: 6600869
Abstract: Digital video (DV) formatted image streams may be converted into an intermediate format having a lower resolution than the original image streams. A user may then edit the intermediate formatted image streams to generate a sequence of edit commands. The edit commands may then be processed to generate an output image stream based on the original image streams. The output image stream may be in any desired format, including DV format. The sequence of edit commands may also be processed to generate a preview image stream in the intermediate format.

  • Patent number: 6421778
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for a modular, application-independent program that provides for scalability. The system parameters, that is one or more features, each feature having one or more settings, and each setting having a corresponding tag, cost, and benefit, are initialized by a scalable application program. The scalability program can set all the features to their default settings, the default settings being the settings whose costs and benefits equal zero. The scalability program can also update these system parameters after a parameter change (e.g., a feature or setting is added or removed). The scalability program can find the optimum combination of settings after the amount of available resources changes or after a parameter change. The scalability program can also report to the application program the optimal setting for a specific feature.

  • Patent number: 6028590
Abstract: A method for color conversion is disclosed. The method includes the steps of generating constants from a number of points, spacing and an endpoint for YUV point spacing, adding a constant to a value representing image data to clamp the value towards a predetermined maximum range of image points, subtracting a second constant from the resulting sum value to clamp the sum value towards a predetermined minimum range representing points in an image graph, shifting the resulting difference using spacing information to generate a value for Y,U,V values, and combining the resultant Y,U,V values to generate palette indexes to represent given image data.
