  • Patent number: 7345212
Abstract: A process for preparing a substantially linear olefinic hydrocarbon mixture is described in which a lower olefin feed comprising one or more C3 to C6 lower olefins is contacted in the presence of water and under olefin oligomerization conditions with a catalyst comprising surface-deactivated ZSM-23.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 28, 2003
Date of Patent: March 18, 2008

  • Patent number: 7148388
Abstract: In a process for preparing an olefinic hydrocarbon mixture comprising at least 5% by weight of mono-olefin oligomers of the empirical formula: CnH2n where n is greater than or equal to 6, a feedstock comprising n-butene and propylene in a molar ratio of about 1:0.01 to about 1:0.49 is contacted under oligomerization conditions with surface deactivated ZSM-23. The resultant mono-olefin oligomers comprise at least 20 percent by weight of olefins having at least 12 carbon atoms, wherein said olefins having at least 12 carbon atoms have an average of from about 0.8 to about 2.0 C1–C3 alkyl branches per carbon chain.

  • Patent number: 5457240
Abstract: A method for starting a preformer reactor disposed within a hydroformylation system which comprises an oxo reactor, a stripper reactor and a preformer reactor, wherein the bottoms from the stripper reactor comprise at least a water soluble cobaltous salt and wherein the overhead from the stripper reactor comprises entrained volatile cobalt compounds, wherein at least a portion of the entrained volatile cobalt compounds from the stripper reactor are recycled to the preformer reactor to act an initiator in the conversion of the cobaltous salt to cobalt carbonyl.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 14, 1994
Date of Patent: October 10, 1995
    Assignee: Exxon Chemical Patents, Inc.
Inventors: Stephen W. Beadle, Claude A. Poulin
  • Patent number: 5410090
Abstract: A method for removing cobalt values from the crude product of a cobalt-catalyzed hydroformylation reaction by the application of an airless cobalt demetalling step upstream of the stripping step of a Cobalt Flash hydroformylation catalyst recovery process for C.sub.4 to C.sub.14 olefins, whereby no oxygen is required to oxidize cobalt carbonyls to their cobaltous form. This airless demetalling step may also be used downstream of the stripping step in the case of C.sub.7 to C.sub.20 olefins to remove carbonyls from a water soluble cobaltous salt and carbon carbonyl stream which is taken as bottoms from the stripper reactor.
