  • Patent number: 6519914
Abstract: A perforation forming module for a packaging machine of the type converting strip material into a strip of interconnected packets, the module comprising first and second punch die assemblies disposed along a strip feed path and reciprocally moveable between a retracted position away from the feed path and closed mutual engagement on the feed path. The movement of the punch assemblies into their operative closed positions is synchronized with upstream clamping engagement between sealing jaws and the strip material so that the perforation operation occurs while the strip material is held in tension between upstream clamping jaws and downstream pull-down rollers.

  • Patent number: 5188289
Abstract: A nozzle assembly for dripless, splashless dispensing of liquids of various viscosities is comprised of three elements: a tubing terminator, a nozzle body and a nozzle head. The tubing terminator is adapted at a first end to accept fluid flow from a compressible tube into a central bore, which does not extend all of the way to the second end, but ends with at least one radial bore. When the tubing terminator is inserted into the nozzle body and fluid flow is initiated, the fluid leaving the terminator impinges an intermediate bore portion having walls angling away from the longitudinal axis of the nozzle body. This impingement serves to swirl the fluid and minimize dripping and splashing. A nozzle head, which covers the flow chamber into which the intermediate bore portion of the nozzle body opens, has a wire mesh screen covering the opening out of which the fluid is dispensed.

  • Patent number: 4516380
Abstract: A compact portable apparatus for filling open ended preformed containers with a substance, such as liquid, and then heat bonding a thin flexible closure material to the periphery of the open end of the container, for sealing the latter, comprising a frame and a rotatable support thereon adapted to receive a plurality of the containers; a plurality of work stations are provided on the frame, adapted for coaction with a respective container mounted on the support, including a feed station for automatically feeding the containers one at a time onto the support, a filling station for inserting the substance into each of the containers, a sealing station for heat bonding the thin flexible closure to the peripheral lip of the filled container; but in readily peelable relationship therewith, and a discharge station for removal of the filled and sealed containers from the support.

  • Patent number: 4493178
Abstract: A portable packaging machine for making a continuous ribbon of interconnected packets with each packet containing one or more pills or capsules. The machine has a unique single frame structure whereby the machine weighs less than fifty pounds to facilitate shipping, particularly in those instances where a fifty pound maximum is a factor. The frame is of open construction to provide increased air circulation. A message is imprinted on each packet by means of a stencil having a special stamp pad and ink to provide a clear imprinted impression after an unusually high number of impressions.
