  • Patent number: 12138780
Abstract: A gripper provides for gripping labware having a variety of diameters and shapes. The gripper includes a support structure having a center axis, a motor, and a gripper stage. The gripper stage includes a plurality of blades, each of the blades having a first end through which a blade rotation axis extends, a second end that is circumferentially and radially moveable to rotate the blade about the blade rotation axis, and c) a center portion. A ring structure is coupled to the motor to rotate the ring structure around the center axis. The ring structure, as it rotates, moves the second end of each blade to rotate the blade about the blade rotation axis of the blade to shift the center portion towards the center axis to contact an outer portion of a vessel extending along the center axis.

  • Publication number: 20240283203
Abstract: Low profile board-to-board interface contactors are described. In one example, a board-to-board interface contactor includes a shield body housing, a shield lid over the shield body housing, an insulating interposer within the shield body housing, a press-biased conductive pin, and a compression member. The shield body housing includes a spring contact arm. The shield lid is positioned over the shield body housing and is seated upon the spring contact arm. The shield lid includes a central contactor opening through which the conductive pin can extend to facilitate electrical contact for the communication of a radio frequency signal. The insulating interposer is positioned within the shield body housing, with the press-biased conductive pin extending through an aperture in the insulating interposer. The compression member is positioned with the insulating interposer, under the press-biased conductive pin, and the compression member applies a compression bias against a bottom surface of the conductive pin.

  • Publication number: 20240252937
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide an apparatus and methods for assisting individuals in controlling respiratory rates. For example, a respiratory regulation apparatus is provided in the form of a plush animal toy that operates components to simulate the breathing rate of anxious individuals. The apparatus may include actuators that are controlled by a slotted cam that is dynamically rotated at varying speeds in a determined rotational direction. The actuators move inward and outward in relative directions to move a torso of the plush animal toy to simulate breathing. In certain aspects, actuators may expand outward while at the same time another actuator contracts inward to cause the torso to simulate realistic breathing movements. A processor controls the speed of the cam such that the simulated breathing of the animal toy apparatus can be reduced at a controlled rate to assist an individual in reducing their breathing rate to a calmer state.

  • Publication number: 20240240246
Abstract: The invention relates to constructs comprising a transmembrane protein pore subunit and a nucleic acid handling enzyme. The pore subunit is covalently attached to the enzyme such that both the subunit and enzyme retain their activity. The constructs can be used to generate transmembrane protein pores having a nucleic acid handling enzyme attached thereto. Such pores are particularly useful for sequencing nucleic acids. The enzyme handles the nucleic acid in such a way that the pore can detect its component nucleotides by stochastic sensing.
