  • Publication number: 20080098613
Abstract: The invention relates to a drying cylinder for drying a paper, cardboard, tissue or other fibrous web in a machine for manufacturing and/or finishing the former, which is heated from inside with a gaseous heat transfer medium, the inner side of the roll shell having elevations which protrude out of the condensation of the heat transfer medium which collects on the inner side. Here, the heat transfer is to be improved by the fact that the elevations are at least 1.2 times higher than the mean condensation height and/or the cross section of the elevations is reduced inwards.

  • Publication number: 20070184955
Abstract: Disclosed is a heated cylinder (1) for heating a paper web, cardboard web, tissue web, or another fiber web in a machine used for producing and/or refining the fiber web. Said heated cylinder (1) comprises a cylinder sleeve which is impinged upon at least in part from the inside by a hot fluid and is provided with at least one inner and an outer sleeve layer (5, 6). The inventive heated cylinder (1) is characterized in that the two sleeve layers (5, 6) are separated from each other by a hollow space into which the fluid can be introduced.

  • Publication number: 20050166418
Abstract: An apparatus for dewatering a fiber web in a paper machine includes a heated drying surface, a permeable fabric carrying the fiber web, and a condensing region adjacent a portion of the permeable fabric on a side opposite the fiber web. The fiber web is interposed between and contacts each of the heated drying surface and the permeable fabric. The condensation region has: a) a temperature which is less than a temperature of the permeable fabric; and/or b) a pressure which is greater than an ambient pressure.
