  • Publication number: 20140237943
Abstract: An attachment for protecting a substantially flat article comprising a first portion that includes a body and a plurality of finger-like projections and a second portion that includes a body portion and a plurality of finger-like projections is disclosed. The first and second portions define 90° angle. The attachment is formed from a foamed polymerized material, such as a resilient foamed material. The attachment is cut into the first and second portions. The first portion is placed on one side of the corner of the flat article. The second portion is turned over and the interlocking finger-like projections of the second component are fitted to the interlocking finger-like projections of the first portion. As a variation of the use of the disclosed invention the first and second portions may be cut at their corners to allow the first and second portions to be fitted to an edge of the flat article.

  • Patent number: 6418861
Abstract: A modular pallet construction allowing the formation of storage pallets of varying sizes and configurations. The pallet includes a top deck formed from a plurality of plate members interconnected to create a storage platform. The number and orientation of the plate members dictates the configuration of the top deck. The top deck is supported by beams which create a space beneath the top deck into which lift forks may be inserted to transport the pallet and its contents. In order to reduce the weight of the pallet yet provide ample strength, the plate members are formed with a core of high density expanded foam encapsulated in a rigid coating material.

  • Patent number: 5083845
Abstract: A fixture for appliance manufacturing and transport of the assembled appliance supports vertically movable components of the appliance at differing elevations during manufacturing and continues to at least partially support the components during the transport after assembly. A particular use of the fixture is in the manufacture of a washing machine which has a suspended wash tub and drive assembly and an outer cabinet. The fixture is composed of a main support and a cabinet support with the main support being vertically movable relative to the cabinet support, yet held by the cabinet support in a fixed horizontal position. The wash tub and drive assembly is supported during use by a suspension system connected between the wash tub and cabinet and with the use of the fixture, a portion of the weight of the wash tub is supported at all times during the assembly process and during shipping, relieving the cabinet from bearing that weight.
