    Abstract: A reclosable zipper having a first profile interlockable with a second profile is provided. The profiles include interlocking members which engage to form a vacuum seal when the profiles are interlocked. To provide resistance to product side separation forces, one of the profiles is additionally provided with an asymmetrical arrow-shaped member which interlocks with a groove element on the other profile so as to make it more difficult to open the zipper from the product side than the consumer side. To provide further resistance to product side separation forces, a hinge member may optionally be provided on one of the profiles.

  • Gusseted package with reclosable zipper

    Abstract: A gusseted package having a reclosable zipper is provided. The package includes opposing first and second walls extending from a package bottom and joined together by a pair of opposing expanding side gussets. The package further includes a reclosable zipper attached to the package walls. The reclosable zipper includes a carrier web having opposing first and second walls joined at their ends by opposing first and second gussets and a pair of interlocking fastener profiles attached to the opposing walls. When the fastener profiles are interlocked, the first and second gussets are captured between the profiles.

  • Methods of making slide-zippered reclosable packages on horizontal form-fill-seal machines

    Abstract: Methods of making slide-zippered reclosable packages are provided. In one embodiment, a pair of opposing film extensions are provided on each package between which a zipper and slider are attached. In another embodiment, sliders are inserted on to zippered packages output from a form-fill-seal machine or the like. In yet another embodiment, during package formation a reclosable zipper is sealed to each package and then a slider is inserted on to the zipper. In yet another embodiment, during package formation a reclosable zipper is sealed to each package and a slider is inserted on to each zipper, either before or after zipper sealing.
