Patent number: 6662417Abstract: A method of constructing a swivel hook. The method comprises the steps of: forming a hook body by way of a stamping process; forming a swivel connector by means of a forging process; placing a first washer having a rectangular shaped right angled bore over a rectangular stem on the hook body; inserting the rectangular stem of the hook body through a circular bore in a first end of the swivel connector; placing a second washer having a generally rectangular shaped right angled bore over the rectangular stem of the hook body and into abutment with the swivel connector such that the end of the stem extends through the second washer; and, thereafter, peening the tip of the rectangular stem extending through the second washer to secure the second washer in place over the rectangular stem.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2002Date of Patent: December 16, 2003Assignee: Haun Drop Forge Co., Ltd.Inventors: Keith A. Patent number: 6579485Abstract: A method of injection molding material around the surface of an object. The method involves positioning the object within the cavity of a first mold and holding the object through the use of a plurality of clamping mechanisms. Material is injection molded about the surface of the object such that the material encompasses the object's surface except for points of contact between the clamping mechanisms and the object. A plurality of protrusions, formed of injection molded material and extending outwardly from the surface of the object, are formed during the injection molding process. Thereafter the object is removed from the first mold cavity and positioned within the cavity of a second mold. The object is secured within the second mold cavity through engagement of the outwardly extending protrusions with the second mold.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2000Date of Patent: June 17, 2003Assignee: Haun Drop Forge Co. Ltd.Inventors: Keith A. Smith, Steve B. Levay

Patent number: 6557219Abstract: A swivel hook is described that is comprised of a hook body and a swivel connector. The hook body has a generally uniform thickness and is stamped from a sheet of material. A hook member formed at a first end and a longitudinally oriented stem, having a generally rectangular cross-section, formed at a second opposite end of the hook body. The swivel connector is pivotally securable over the stem and formed from a forged metal. The swivel connector has a generally circular bore of a size exceeding the rectangular cross-section of the stem such that the stem may be received through the bore to secure the swivel connector to the hook body while permitting rotational movement of the swivel connector about the stem. Also described is a method of constructing a swivel hook.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2001Date of Patent: May 6, 2003Assignee: Haun Drop Forge Co. Ltd.Inventors: Keith A. Smith, Steve B. Patent number: 6195849Abstract: A dielectric D-ring of the type having a hook receiving opening at one end and a strap or cable receiving opening at the other. The dielectric D-ring comprises a D-ring blank encased within a dielectric injection molded plastic shell. The blank has a plurality of plastic receiving holes therethrough that receive plastic when the dielectric plastic shell is injection molded about the blank. The plastic filled holes assist in holding together the portions of the plastic shell situated on opposite sides of the blank.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1999Date of Patent: March 6, 2001Assignee: Haun Drop Forge Co. Patent number: 5896630Abstract: A self locking snap hook that includes a central shank having an arch shaped hook member that defines a gateway opening at one end, a gate keeper enclosing the gateway opening, a locking lever to prevent the opening of the gate keeper, and a second locking mechanism having an engaged and a disengaged position such that when it is engaged it prevents the locking lever from being disengaged. Movement of the second locking mechanism between its engaged and disengaged positions requires the application of force and resulting movement in a direction other than that required to move the locking lever from its engaged to its disengaged position.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1998Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Assignee: Haun Drop Forge Co., Ltd.Inventors: Keith A. Patent number: 5813486Abstract: An anchorage connector is comprised generally of an attachment device, a base plate and a generally arched shaped anchoring ring. The attachment device secures the connector to the surface of an object. The base plate is connected to the attachment device and helps to distribute forces to which the connector is subjected, across the surface of an object when the connector is secured to the object by the attachment device. The generally arched shaped anchoring ring has its upper end attached to the upper portion of the base plate and its lower end attached to the lower portion of the base plate such that the anchoring ring is positioned approximately perpendicular to the base plate.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1996Date of Patent: September 29, 1998Assignee: Haun Drop Forge Co., Ltd.Inventors: Keith A.
