Abstract: A water heater assembly includes a burner and an exhaust pathway. The exhaust pathway includes a condensate trap having a float and a housing. The housing includes an upper housing portion defining an upper chamber within which the float is disposed, an inlet through which exhaust gases and liquid condensate flow into the upper chamber, an exhaust outlet through which exhaust gases flow out of the upper chamber, a lower housing portion that defines a lower chamber positioned beneath the upper chamber, a divider that extends between the upper and lower chambers and includes an upper face and a lower face opposite the upper face, a port that extends through the divider from the upper chamber to the lower chamber, a condensate outlet through which liquid condensate flows out of the lower chamber, and a collar that projects downward from the lower face of the divider to a lower lip.

Abstract: A system for heating water includes an interior region, a first heat source including a gas burner configured to generate combustion gases; a second heat source including an electric heating element; a temperature or flow or pressure sensor positioned to directly or indirectly sense a temperature or a flow or a pressure of water contained in the interior region; and a mechanical and/or electrical controller coupled to the temperature or flow or pressure sensor, the first heat source, and the second heat source. The controller actuates the first heat source by firing the gas burner in response to a first signal from the temperature or flow or pressure sensor, and/or actuates the second heat source by actuating the electric heating element in response to a second signal from the temperature or flow or pressure sensor.

Abstract: The present concepts relate to turbocharger exhaust arrangements. One example involves a system that includes an internal combustion engine configured with a turbocharger. The system also includes an exhaust arrangement comprising a post-turbocharger (PT) exhaust pipe connected to the turbocharger and positioned proximate to the internal combustion engine, the PT exhaust pipe extending away from the turbocharger along the internal combustion engine. The PT exhaust pipe includes a first portion extending above at least one part of a set of header exhaust pipes connecting the internal combustion engine with the turbocharger. The PT exhaust pipe also includes one or more additional connected and contiguous portions extending below at least one other part of the set of header exhaust pipes.
