  • Patent number: 10742818
Abstract: A method is disclosed for wireless density-based on-the-fly codec and radio frequency link type selection. The method includes storing a link quality value, and scanning a plurality of timeslots across a plurality of wireless carriers. The method also includes calculating, based on the scanning, an average radio frequency density level for a time period. Still yet, the method includes calculating a current density level based on the link quality value and the average radio frequency density level. Further, the method includes selecting, based on the current density level, a codec from a plurality of stored codecs. The selected codec is associated with a link type. Moreover, the method includes receiving a command to open a wireless link, and, in response to the command, opening the wireless link using the selected codec and the associated link type.

  • Patent number: 8755845
Abstract: Wireless audio headset systems and methods for automatically activating target application programs on an attached processor-based host are disclosed. The system generally includes a headset base to communicate with the host executing a headset integrator application, a wireless headset in wireless communication with the headset base and configured to transmit audio signals to and from the headset integrator application via the headset base, and a program activation mechanism provided by the wireless headset that, upon activation of the mechanism, activates a target application program on the processor-based host via the headset base and the headset integrator application.

  • Patent number: 7190972
Abstract: The present invention provides a solution to the needs described above through a method and apparatus for a wireless network. The network includes a first wireless device and a second wireless device. The first wireless device comprises a transceiver for receiving and transmitting signals utilizing a wireless air interface and communication protocol. The second wireless device is capable of communicating with the first wireless device using the wireless air interface and communication protocol. The second wireless device is further capable of receiving and transmitting signals utilizing an IEEE 802.11 wireless protocol. The network further includes a wired device for communicating with the second wireless device utilizing the IEEE 802.11 wireless protocol.

  • Patent number: 6903693
Abstract: A system and method for small built-in antennas that can be incorporated into short range communication devices such as cordless headsets are disclosed. The antenna is a built-in bifurcated inverted F antenna. The antenna generally includes two signal radiating and receiving arms of substantially equal electrical length extending generally parallel to each other along a longitudinal length of the antenna, the arms defining an opening therebetween extending along the longitudinal length of the antenna, a signal component in communication with the two arms for transmitting and receiving signals between the two arms and a signal contact of the wireless communication device, and a grounding component in contact with a grounding plane for grounding the antenna. The antenna may include an extension sloped relative to the grounding plane and extending between the grounding component and the arms to minimize the profile of the antenna.
