Abstract: A food item transforming system comprising a processor coupled to a memory is provided. The processor is configured to associate, in the memory, an identifier with a source of content pertaining to at least one of a drawing, a contest, a game, a coupon, and an advertisement. Additionally, the processor is configured to generate a computer-readable code that encodes at least the identifier, print the computer-readable code to a physical medium, and insert the physical medium into a food item, thereby transforming the food item into an information carrier.
