  • Patent number: 8315608
Abstract: A method and apparatus for quickly and easily requesting content over a mobile device via a telephone network without requiring user entry of a number of pieces of information or having to forward through to certain request screens and/or browse for content. The method includes verifying a mobile device based on an incoming telephone call to a particular destination telephone number; retrieving by a content server the specific content associated with the particular destination telephone number in which contact has been initiated by the mobile device; and providing the specific content to the mobile device requesting the content. Specific content includes but is not limited to broadcast data, satellite transmitted data, and cable network data provided during a telephone call, so that a mobile device can receive everything from television shows to news broadcasts and educational shows, etc. so long it is within range of a telephone network.

  • Publication number: 20120093304
Abstract: A system and method for a selective ring silencer that prevents people from having to listen to the telephone ring on and on with nuisance calls. The ringer silencer can be: (1) discretely constructed from a telephone, (2) part of a telecommunication device, or (3) part of a central telephone network construction. A receiver demodulates an incoming call. Control logic reads at least a portion of the called identification (CID) data and determines an action based on the reading. A switch in communication with the control logic is actuated to a first state that allows the communication data to be output from the ring silencer, and a second state that blocks the communication data from being output from the ring silencer to a user's communication device. The control logic blocks toll-free area codes originated calls from ringing a user's telephone, optionally forwarding the call to a voice mail module.

  • Publication number: 20080189298
Abstract: A system and method for providing an online personalized inventory of authorized content that is accessible from virtually any location by a wirelessly connected user. A server in communication with a personalized database is accessible from a plurality of locations via RF, permits automatic viewing of an authorized library, and/or select portions for additional purchase and download. Retrieval of a personalized catalog of authorized content for enjoyment while traveling, etc. is effectuated without having to “sync” or “resync” with a home or base computer, or worry about backing up the collection. The system permits adding to the online personalized collection by purchasing additional material, without having to upload the purchases to a base or home computer, as they are kept track of and maintained by the server. A plurality of player devices can each download portions of the personalized content.
