Abstract: A conveyor system for transporting cylindrical objects is disclosed including an endless conveyor arranged in a transport path, a drive for feeding the endless conveyor, guide rails for restricting lateral movement of cylindrical objects transported on the endless conveyor, an elevation transport section adapted to transport the cylindrical objects from a first height to a second height and including the endless conveyor having a base surface extending along the transport path, the endless conveyor including vertical protrusions extending outwardly from the base surface of the endless conveyor and including a front wall with an inclined portion sloping towards the base surface, such that a cylindrical object transported on the elevation transport section can rest on the inclined portion under a contact force directed towards the base surface by gravity.

Abstract: A system and method for representing on a user interface a plurality of transponders in a file system of a computing device, the user interface provided by the device, the device configured for communicating with the transponders when present in an electromagnetic spectrum in communication range of the device. The communication between the transponders and the device uses radio frequency signals to obtain information of the transponders. The system and method comprises a first memory location configured for storing the transponder information as a plurality of corresponding transponder files in the file system. The system and method also have a driver for coordinating the transfer of the transponder information between the transponder and the first memory location according to an access command, the access command configured for directing the computing device to obtain the transponder information for the transponders when in communication range of the device.

Upon receiving a request from a user for Web content via a telephone device, a Web server retrieves an advertisement from an advertisement server, inserts the retrieved advertisement within the user requested Web content, and forwards the user requested Web content and advertisement to a text-to-speech transcoder for conversion to an audio format. The text-to-speech transcoder converts the Web content and advertisement from a text-based format to an audio format and serves the Web content and advertisement in the audio format to the user client device via a telephone link established with the user client device. If an advertisement is interactive, a text-to-speech transcoder may be configured to notify an advertisement server of user interaction with the advertisement.

Abstract: A refilling pump arrangement comprises a refilling hose (1), and a pump (2) mounted at the free end of the hose which takes in fluid. This hose and pump arrangement can be stored anywhere, either on or off a vehicle or other machine that receives fluid, and when stored on the machine the hose and pump can be stored in an area that does not need to be adjacent the liquid tank. This enables space savings for the parts of the vehicle which have the most critical space demands.

Abstract: A vehicle that has a propulsion system operable for propelling the vehicle. The propulsion system includes a heat dissipating component that generates heat when the propulsion system is operated. An air cooling system is configured for flowing air across the heat dissipating component to extract heat therefrom and has an intake portion that can include a snorkel. The snorkel has an elongated channel open to the atmosphere at a snorkel intake for drawing in cooling air and is associated with the heat dissipating member to deliver cooling air thereto at a location that is preferably lower than the intake. Also, intake and exhaust plenums can be provided on upstream and downstream sides of the heat dissipating components, respectively, to control and direct the flow of air.

Abstract: Data stored on a removable storage medium such as a tape cartridge can be protected from unauthorized access by storing a password hash value in a protected manner on the storage medium, where the password hash value is generated from a password by a one-way hash function such as SHA-256, so that the password cannot easily be determined from the hash value. A media drive is then equipped with logic for blocking access to the data unless the password is provided. The password is protected from unauthorized access because the password hash value, not the password itself, is stored on the storage medium.

Likewise, users can “opt-out” of future direct marketing by “clicking on” content displayed within various promotional content.

Abstract: An on-line referral system. According to a preferred embodiment, individuals in need of having services rendered on their behalf post situations, preferably via a billboard maintained on a website. Service providers meeting certain competency thresholds capable and willing to perform services on behalf of such posted situations are enable to bid or otherwise forward advertising or promotional information to the individual posting such situation. In this respect, such posted situation is disseminated to those service providers capable of rendering such services on behalf of the individual. The individual may then consider the information, as submitted, and either select a particular service provider, or choose not to go with any service provider responding to such situation. In either event, the posted situation is caused to be terminated and withdrawn from the billboard.

User requests for Web documents are sent from a client device to a first server. In response to receiving the user request, the first server sends a request to a second server for content to be included within a requested Web document. The second server sends content having a format specified by the markup tag to the first server. The first server then serves a requested Web document with the content included therewithin at the identified location to a client device.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products that facilitate and account for call-through advertising between third party advertisers and users of Web-enabled telephone devices, are provided. An advertisement server serves an advertisement associated with a third party to a Web-enabled telephone device for insertion within a Web page displayed within the device. The advertisement contains an embedded hyperlink associated with the advertisement server. In response to user activation of the advertisement, the advertisement server serves telephone connection information of the third party to the Web-enabled telephone device. The telephone connection information is in a format that can be utilized by the Web-enabled telephone device to establish telephone communications with the third party. Information associated with serving the telephone connection information to the Web-enabled telephone device is stored.

Abstract: An application program interface (API) is operably associated with application programs executing on an electronic device and enables the application programs to retrieve, store, and display content. The API enables application programs to communicate with other application programs and to send/retrieve content to/from other application programs. In addition, the API is configured to perform various event accounting functions. A gateway communicates with an electronic device application program via the API and is configured to retrieve content from a content server in response to receiving requests from the application programs. The gateway is configured to serve content retrieved from the content server to the electronic device, as well as to other servers and/or devices. Methods, apparatus, and computer program products are provided for dynamically selecting advertisements for use within user-requested content wherein the advertisements are stored locally within a user client device.

Abstract: A memory paging and compression system for a computer having a memory and an execution unit includes an address mapping hierarchy, a compressed page mapping hierarchy, a translation lookaside buffer, and a compression/decompression component. The address mapping hierarchy includes page tables having page table entries which map from a first portion of virtual addresses to respective pages in physical memory. The compressed page mapping hierarchy includes compressed page tables having compressed page table entries mapping from the first portion of virtual addresses to respective compressed pages in physical memory. The translation lookaside buffer caches recently used ones of the mappings from the first portion of virtual addresses to respective pages in physical memory.
