  • Patent number: 11927158
Abstract: An apparatus and methods are provided for an air cleaner to be mounted onto an air inlet of an internal combustion engine. The air cleaner comprises an air filter that includes a filter medium disposed between a curved base and a cover. The curved base provides an interface between the air filter and the air inlet, and comprises a shape that provides clearance between the curved base and an electric choke installed onto a carburetor comprising the air inlet. The cover secures the air filter and the curved base to the air inlet such that an airstream is drawn through the filter medium and is conducted into the air inlet. A raised portion of the cover is configured to cooperate with the curved base to ensure a desired volume of the airstream is available to the air inlet at substantially all engine speeds.

  • Publication number: 20220243689
Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for an air box with an integrated air filter to communicate air flow from an exterior of the air filter to an air intake of an automobile engine. The air filter comprises a filter material that surrounds at least a portion of an interior cavity of the air filter. An end cap is affixed to a distal end of the filter material, and a wire support extends along at least a portion of the exterior surface of the filter material. The air box comprises a housing portion and a mount portion. The housing portion is configured to direct air drawn through the filter material into the interior cavity of the air filter and then into the air intake of the automobile engine. The mount portion is configured to support the air box and the air filter once installed within an automobile engine bay.

  • Publication number: 20210231035
Abstract: A sound attenuating engine exhaust system and methods are provided for directing exhaust gases away from an internal combustion engine of a vehicle and attenuating undesirable exhaust sounds during engine operation. The sound attenuating engine exhaust system comprises an exhaust inlet configured to receive exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine. A first resonator coupled with the exhaust inlet is configured to dampen at least one frequency of exhaust sound waves by way of destructive wave interference. The first resonator includes an exhaust outlet for directing the exhaust gases out of the first resonator. A second resonator is coupled with the first resonator and configured to dampen one or more frequencies of exhaust sound waves by way of a combination of destructive wave interference and Helmholtz resonance. Hangers facilitate attaching the sound attenuating engine exhaust system to an undercarriage of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20160273423
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for a breather vent configured to be mounted onto a crankcase breather inlet of an internal combustion engine, such that particulate matter and contaminates are removed from an airstream entering into an interior of the crankcase. The breather vent comprises a base including a fitting receiver configured to retain a breather end of an adaptive fitting. An inlet end of the adaptive fitting is configured to be coupled with the crankcase breather inlet of the engine. A filter medium is fastened to the base and configured to remove the particulate matter and contaminates from the incoming airstream. The filter medium circumferentially surrounds the interior cavity and forms an exterior perimeter of a portion of the cavity. A cap is affixed to the filter medium, such that the filter medium is retained between the base and the cap.
