  • Publication number: 20100044533
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an adjustable leg (10) for an article of furniture (70). The adjustable leg (10) includes a receptacle (12) defining a plurality of receiving formations (16) and a post member (20) displaceably received in the receptacle (12). The post member (20) carries an engaging element (22) which is selectively releasably receivable in one of the receiving formations (16) of the receptacle (12). The engaging element (22) is responsive to an operating member (24) for making and breaking engagement between the engaging element (22) and the selected one of the receiving formations (16) of the receptacle (12).

  • Publication number: 20100040410
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an accessory attaching system (10) for use with an article of furniture (13). The system (10) comprises a socket defining member (12) to be received by one of an accessory (18) and an underlying component (16) to which the accessory (18) is to be attached. A retention device (20) is mountable to the other of the accessory (18) and the underlying component (16) to retain the accessory and the underlying component in position relative to each other. The retention device (20) is shaped to be a snug fit in a socket (14) defined by the socket defining member (12). A restraining formation (28) is carried on the retention device (20) for engaging a complementary element (32) carried by one of the accessory (18) and the underlying component (16) to inhibit lateral displacement of the accessory (18) relative to the underlying component (16).

  • Patent number: 7364238
Abstract: An article of furniture (10) includes a base having a front (14) and a rear (16) and a top (18) surface. A backrest assembly (20) has a front edge (22) and a rear edge (24) and is slideably arranged relative to the base (12) in a plane parallel to the top surface of the base to adjust a depth (D) of the base as measured between the front edge of the backrest assembly and the front of the base. Further it includes a locking mechanism having a displacement member (48) movably received in the housing (42), the displacement member being displaceable between a locking orientation and an unlocking orientation, when the displacement member is in its locking orientation the locking member (50) is urged partially out of the aperture (50) in the housing to protrude a predetermined extent through the housing to effect locking and, when the displacement member is in its unlocking orientation, the locking member is free to be at least partially withdrawn in the housing to effect unlocking.
