Publication number: 20110045131Abstract: A process for transferring energy to the contents of a vat. An embodiment transfers an amount of heat energy needed to heat cheese curd and whey inside the vat according to a specified time and temperature. An energy substrate, such as steam and/or water, carries heat energy to a vat jacket. The embodiment calculates the total process energy required to be transferred to the vat contents to cook the cheese in accordance with a recipe. The total process energy is a function of the energy input to the vat minus the energy output from the vat. Small losses of energy from the vat to the atmosphere occur. These small losses are accounted for by use of historical efficiency data for each vat. The historical efficiency is continuously monitored and any deviation from the historical efficiency is factored into the energy transfer calculation for subsequent cheese batches.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2007Publication date: February 24, 2011Applicant: RELCO UNISYSTEMS CORPORATIONInventor: Steve James Ejnik

Patent number: 7799405Abstract: The interlocking of two or more sections via the insertion of one or more out-of-plane features in one section or combination of sections through a void in one or more a complementary sections can result in a reinforced ceramic matrix composite article upon securing of the sections. The sections can be secured by friction between two tightly matched sections or by the use of a pin, hook, or clamp. The sections can be constructed from one or more CMC laminate sheets. The out-of-plane feature can be a loop or a flange and the void can be an orifice or a matched loop in the complementary sheet. The securing of the sections can result in a CMC article where the delamination between sheets is inhibited.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2006Date of Patent: September 21, 2010Assignee: Siemens Energy, Inc.Inventors: Steve James Vance, Gary B. Patent number: 5842676Abstract: A stand for supporting a cut tree for display includes an inner bowl with an outer surface in the form of a segment of a sphere. The inner bowl includes a tree-trunk engaging device for holding the tree trunk in a roughly vertical position in the inner bowl. The inner bowl is supported in a rotatable and tiltable manner within an outer bowl-like support member. The inner bowl can be clamped to the outer bowl-like member by clamps spaced about the periphery of the inner bowl. Each clamp includes a bearing member hinged to the inner bowl, which bears against the exterior of the outer bowl-like member. Each bearing member is forced against the outer bowl-like member by an over-center clamp. The tree trunk is held against a vertical support by a strap-and-buckle arrangement including a cam which simultaneously pinches the strap at two different locations in the clamped position of the cam, for providing continuous adjustment of the strap length.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1996Date of Patent: December 1, 1998Inventor: Steve James Plzak
