Publication number: 20230034825Abstract: In some embodiments, a user enters a search term (or a portion thereof) in a search field associated with one or more resource types that may be searched. The user may be presented with a pop-up menu containing a list of likely matches. The user selects the desired preference control from the pop-up menu, and the corresponding preference pane, or other container, containing the selected data item, control, or other resource is displayed. In one aspect, as the user enters the search term (or portion thereof), certain icons are highlighted. Specifically, those icons that represent containers containing matching data items (such as preference panes having controls that match the search term) are highlighted. Different types of highlighting can be used depending on the degree of certainty as to which container is likely to contain the correct match.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 7, 2022Publication date: February 2, 2023Inventors: Maxym I. Patent number: 8626930Abstract: Methods and apparatuses to filter multimedia content are described. The multimedia content in one embodiment is analyzed for one or more parameters. The multimedia content in one embodiment is filtered based on the one or more parameters using a latent semantic mapping (“LSM”) filter. In one embodiment, the one or more parameters include information about a structure of the multimedia content. A tag that encapsulates the one or more parameters may be generated. Then, the tag is input into the latent semantic mapping filter. In one embodiment, the LSM filter is trained to recognize the multimedia content based on the one or more parameters. In one embodiment, more than two categories are provided for a multimedia content. The multimedia content is classified in more than two categories using the LSM filter. The multimedia content may be blocked based on the classifying.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2007Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Giovanni Donelli, Jerome Bellegarda, Steve Ko, John Scalo

Patent number: 8504733Abstract: A subtree within a global tree of nodes is created by determining a predicate condition. The predicate condition is disseminated to the nodes in the global tree. For each node in the global tree, a determination of whether the node belongs to the subtree is performed, and an indication of whether the node belongs to the subtree is stored. After the subtree is created, a query corresponding to the subtree is put to the subtree for resolution.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2007Date of Patent: August 6, 2013Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Subramoniam N.
